Units in armies can't get killed (unless the army itself dies).

Umm... that's the whole POINT of armies - the units don't die unless the army dies. Until C3C, in fact, that was the only bonus to an army. And what's wrong with the map? It's WAY better than C2.

The little map doesn't re-centre when you scroll across the main one.

What would be the point of an army if they didn't share hitpoints the way they do? Are there any other ways to get a 15-hitpoint unit, or more commonly a 12-hitpoint unit in any age? With a bonus movement point? And an attack bonus?

I like armies just the way they are. It might be nice to be able to build them without having one(chicken-egg-conundrum), but armies themselves are very, very strong, moreso in Conquests. I think Unit-lock-in is a balancing factor, and well-deserved.

In my most recent game, I've got a 3 Elite Sword Army (added a Samurai after building Pentagon) and it's still useful against Cavalry and Infantry.

I usually can't get 2 attacks out of it, but I have used it to attack (and kill) a Fortified Infantry w/in a Metro. I had to use the extra movement to pull it back into my territory so that it could heal, but w/ the extra hit points, even w/ low attack, it's pretty tough. The AI won't attack it (yet), so it's also good at defending Arty stacks.

                    6 on a & d before modifiers? With 16+ hps?

                    That's a keeper.

AH, especially with C3C, Armies ROCK. Replacing units would just be too much.

I've never been a big Army fan and so with my C3C play, I've still not built them, but then realized I can't hurry great wonders with them either...so...

Since I guess all I can do now is build armies with my MGL's, what are the improvements to armies in C3C?

To me the biggest are the movement bonus and they can heal faster. They heal in town with barrack like regular units. Those two make them so strong. Before if that army was down to 2 or 3 HP, it would be soooo long before they could be used again.
The free pillage canbe a real powerful tool, but I tend to not use it much. Those improvements are going to be mine after all. I will pillage a city I am attacking that has too many units. Especially the capitol.

                          Ahhhh...

Didn't realize any of that. Movement bonus, free pilliage and faster healing.

Faster healing is definitely needed to make them more useful.

Guess I'll break down and build an army. Saved a leader all the way from my beknighted days, but now I've got tanks in my current game. Better yet, I think I'm the only one that's got them.

                              1/6 increase in attack/defense
1/4 increase in attack/defense with the Mil Academy
                              Blitz
                              Radar (sees one extra tile)
One extra movement from slowest unit (means slowmover Armies can retreat)
Better healing in cities, cities with barracks, and in enemy territory
Pillage (without lose of movement points)
                              Zone of Control
Can capture units (restricted to such unit capabilities; not sure about when mixed)
Can be loaded onto a transport

Marine+Berserk Armies have not yet been addressed. Not sure about Paratrooper Armies abilities yet.
