The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

One huge problem with OCP placement is the workers cannot keep up with all the work to get roads and improvements. You would need so many more workers, it would be very expensive.
A bit tighter placement is easier to work and defend. It does not waste tiles and it is a long way till Sanitation.
Other civs will be able to send units throuh all the spaces in your culltural borders until you get expansion.
I tried hard to use a size 19 at emperor and demi, but it is too much work unless you are isolated or only have one civ on your land mass and plan to kill them soon.

Wait, why is it ironic that your crusader came at the right time?"You're the biggest user of hindsight that I've ever known. Your favorite team, in any sport, is the one that just won. If you were a woman, you'd likely be a slut." - Slowwhand, to Imran

If I may whip out my English teacher credentials:
Irony is NOT what most people intend the word to mean - most people mean "coincidental" or "improbable" when they say something is "ironic."
For something to be ironic, it is sharply in contrast to what is intended or expected.
For example, a brilliant thinker who falls into madness is ironic.
Ending up marrying the girl you hated in 8th grade and swore you'd never talk to again is ironic.
Meeting someone you went to college with after 20 years is NOT ironic.
And, uh.... building a crusader in your civ game precisely around the era of the Crusades in the real world - while a very spiffy and commendable coincidence - is, er, not at all ironic.
So if you look at the song by Alanis:
Rain on your wedding day is ironic only if you expected sunshine - which you probably would, I suppose.
A free ride when you've already paid is ironic.
Good advice that you just didn't take might be ironic if the speaker intended you to take it - which they probably did.
Mr.Play-It-Safe's plane crashing is NOT ironic, however, since his intention in avoiding flying was to avoid exactly that, and the plane crashing was exactly what he WAS expecting - it was just a really lousy coincidence.
A "no smoking sign" on your cigarette break is certainly ironic.
A traffic jam when you're already late is absolutely not ironic - you're already late, so this does nothing to change your expectation of being late, nor your intention of not being late (since you already are.)
:: puts away his teacher's robe::
Sorry, you get like that after the winter holiday without students.
Class dismissed.

Enough of this silliness.

If you feel that the song does not contain any irony, then yes, the song is ironic, assuming that her intent was in fact to be ironic, she achieved her irony by failing to be ironic.
Enough of this silliness.

Fried, thanks for the lesson. It sounds like you might've used that one before.
At least someone came to class prepared today.

justjake73, I agree with you that location is a higher priority than compactness.
Advantages: Better tiles (more shields and gold), more land (counts for score, if that is meaningful to you), potentially more resources.
Disadvantages: Unused tiles (who gives a "bleep"!), greater travel time (until rails).
