Someone who vigorously uses the new game option:
"Man, the agri trait is too overpowered"

Someone who reloads previous turn saves: "Man, the MGL have been downgraded too much, I have gotten 17 MGLs and have had to use them to rush walls just to get rid of them."

Someone who only plays religious civs: "Stop whining about anarchy, no govt would transition from commie to demo without some disruption."

Someone who plays on chieftan "How many wonders do I need for the wonder victory? I have 11/13 of them so far and no win!"

Another game reloader: "Seafaring is overpowered, I made it across 47 ocean tiles in my curragh without sinking."

Someone who doesn't have a night-time partner "Man, I calculated the ratio of random generated 0's to be 12:2:17 when the volcano is actively spewing and 11:1:17 when it's not. Then I reloaded and tried again with a knight on top of the volcano and the numbers came out to 14:3:16. MAN this game is simply not random enough. Surely they can code it better than that?!!!"
If pigs could fly we'd all have to wear helmets.

Someone who thinks the entire civ community is interested in a rambling account of some completely non-memorable epic game:

This weekend I started many conquests games. All were just too tedious to continue. But then, Sunday, I started a game as the dutch (everything set to random) and it's been pretty cool. It must be continents 'cause there are only 3 of us on my landmass but I can't get anywhere else in a galley, yet. Well, I haven't been able to try, really, 'cause, as usual, I am AT WAR all the time.

I'm between Korea and Mongols and the mongols decided to declare war 'cause I woudn't give them 100gp (I had 7 towns when they declared and 4 units per town so I'm pretty sure my military wasn't weak - and I had already traded all my tech).

I recruited Korea for 500g and a rop and we've all been at war for the ENTIRE game so far - a full era by now. I haven't gained a single bit of territory either. I sent a sword army in to Mongolia and it's busy digging up irrigation and capturing workers (does AI not know that army of swordman have 2 moves?).

I actually got a second MGL but am not sure what to do with it? Another army? Perhaps a UU army would make a nice land ripper-upper? But, then again, if I ever get another town or two, I'd like a fast FP.

This is my first game that I moved to republic instead of monarchy but there has been no WW so I'm not sure what triggers it? I can't switch out 'cause several turns of anarchy would mean I'm overrun. If it wasn't for Korea (who, bless their hearts, don't even have iron) I'd have lost by now. (No, I don't trade resources, even with allies. The AI never gives me bumpkiss so I won't give them any either. Let them lose warriors on MI... what do I care?)

I'm thinking I'm just gonna stock my towns with UU (defense of 4 I think) and just keep it at war until I find the other continent. What do I care if the Mongols keep chucking themselves at me? Most of my towns were intentionally built on hills and all have walls so perhaps I can hold out until calvary ('cept they don't have horsies... hehehehehehehheheheh).

(Just joshin' ya, mimi; I felt the need to poke fun after your slight about me and Agricultural...maybe I'm imagining things.)

Dom I have not seen any of the post Mimi mentions, so I figured it was just made up to be funny. Well ok, maybe the Ag part was too close to home.

Yeah, really. I mean, I'm glad all the work on figuring out the code and the equations are done, but jeez, we COULD use a few more translators around here for us "country folk" who haven't touched a calculator since High School...

Well, then I guess it was a VERY good thing that I decided not to mention anything about corruption rates.

(Ok, to be honest, I would've if I could've figured it out! )

Obsessive builder: "I've got 300+ cities all placed for OCS and have built every possible bulidng including the FP and the SPHQ and still the corruption is killing me!! Whose braind-dead idea was this corruption algorithm anyway?"

Armchair General: Look, that's NOT the way to fight a battle. The AI doesn't use bombardment the way that I would, and don't even get me started on how the AI uses Armies or how it reacts to my stack of three MA armies with an MI army backup! I've seen better fighting tactics at a hockey game, and that was in the audience!

Industrious trait addict with non-industrious tribe: What do you mean that jungle tile is still not cleared yet? I've got plenty of other things for that captured worker to do.

Stroyteller player: Once upon a time, the young Cleopatra, living incarnation of the Divine, ordered Her people to settle and create the town of of Thebes by the great Egyptian River. Then, She directed warriors to explore the willderness and settlers to create more towns, wherein temples could be built in Her name. The first of these was...

Clumsy player: Oh no! Don't attack the barbarian with the settler. Attack with the escort! Too late. (Fume and dither over whether to restart and feel guilty or restart and forget it ever happened.)

Miltary trait player: I've got four elites in this stack. I had darn well better get an MGL out of this battle or else the RNG is rigged! Rigged, I tell you!!

This is too much fun. I'm stopping now. (No, wait, just one more turn before I quit!)

And I won't admit which of these are autobiographical either.

Typical poster skilled in Civ3 but NOT in typing, or the use of grammar:

that's not even true it's very likley
There's 60% of time at least you will MGL in that situation if you are not doing something right it is your fault
If the OCN is not IIRC than you will have 50% less armies by the time of steam power and no coal anyways so what does it matter
most people play this game for real no IMBJO here
And besides, Hebrews is not 'real' civilizations America would have to be everything Seapower Horsefaring Religious Militartic etc.

                  That was funny.

Higher Level Players: You may be able to get away with that foolishness playing at Monarch or lower, but once you get to the higher levels you must [insert micromanagement tip here]”.

                    Higher Level Players 2:
Hmmm. Hey, one of the forumites mentioned something ... is there a play level -below- emperor? Hahahaha, who'd play something that easy?

                    Higher Level Players 3:
Yeah, in 400bc the AI got TOE but I got Hoovers anyway! And my prebuild for the Internet is ready to go as soon as I get the tech in 4 turns.

Troller: I can’t believe you’re spending your money on C3C instead of sending death threats to Atari!!!! My unpatched copy of Play the World destroyed my hard drive then ran amok through my neighborhood burning down houses and taking children hostage!

Look, I've not even got the game and I know that you'd get 16:4:15 with a knight. If you got 14:3:16, then the game would even be worth buying.

As it is, I'll have to wait to see if they release a patch that gets the AI to put knights on volcanos before I'd think about it. Clearly, Breakaway have put no effort at all into this expansion.

If the player wins that is entirely due to his immense skill.

All losses are due to the AI cheating.
