Day 2
I played a multiplayer civ3 game today after, well, a really really long time.
The setup is not very hard to get. You start by choosing between internet, lan, hotseat and pbem.
If you havent put in your nickname, you're asked for it
Then you get the lobby screen. You see the current games, you can chat with others((but you dont have a list of the people in there(perhaps this is only done through gamespy arcade(dont remember)?))

if there are too many games availiable, you can filter them out from the filter button

joining or starting a game yourself brings up the staging window

the Game Type options are:
- Simultaneous Moves
- Turn Based
and the Game Mode ones:
- Classic
- Scenario
- Load Game
- Tournament
- Elimination
- Regicide
- Mass Regicide
- Victory Point Scoring
- Capture the Princess
The new Tournament game type enforces the default game rules on all players
So my first MP c3c game went good in terms of winning as 2 hours in the game my opponents drop out with me having the best score. It also went good in terms of speed as despite 600-700 ping times with my opponents, things were decent. I cant make comparisons with Civ2 as i dont remember the last time i played civ2 mp In these 2 hours we've reached 1000AD(someone calculate how many turns that is) It didnt went well in terms of multiplaying as i was in an island separated by ocean from the others and i didnt get to battle them
Note to self: next time, choose pangea
Interested in a C3C Tournament? It may be your chance to kick some Grand Lord a&*
next update probably on Sunday...Last edited by MarkG; November 21, 2003, 22:19.Co-Founder, Apolyton Civilization Site

thanks mark for that....
Did you actually play an internet game , if so how would you compare the times of turns etc.
Was it a valid experience or just a wste of time?
If you have played civ2 MP, how would you compare the two?
Thanks againGM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71

Day 3
Today i started playing the Conquests scenarios. Begun with the Mesopotamia conquest, and chose the easy path of playing on warlord level
The main goal is to build the seven ancient wonders. You can play at most for 160 turns(then the score doesnt count). Used my classic "fill up the world with cities" strategy followed by the "archers/warriors flood" strategy that crushed the Hittites
The scenario includes an altered tech tree, new city improvements and (at least one) new resource, stone.
In this game i also got to see the new Scientific Leaders which are very helpfull in the Mesopotamia scenario as you can build a wonder in a single turn
All in all, it was fun, and given the limited amount of space for most civs it will make for some very interesting games at higher levels and lots of strategy talk.
Speaking of strategy, i noticed that as the Mycenaeans you dont get to have any horses in your area and you have to get your hands on half the map before geting them and being able to build chariots and other related units. Do have that in mind when you play Mesopotamia...

In PTW there is both a sim. turns and a turnless mode. And ofcourse a turnbased mode.
Do you know what the difference is on PTW sim. turns and C3C sim. turns? Did they remove the turnless mode? (I don't care since I always played sim. turns)
