  • The 32nd Civ.

Apparently Conquests does come with 32 civs. There are eight completely new Epic leaderhead sets and Pedia icons, etc.

I assume Charles is the leader of Austria but what are Austria's stats and UU supposed to be?

This wasn't put in the Creation forum because it isn't about creating anything, its about activating the eight civ.

The civ is in one conquest you can get all the stats out from it.

However there is a hardocded limit that prevents the game from having more than 32 civs including barbarians, so you can't add Austria to the game without rremoving any other civ.

I think that in some chat Firaxis and BA planed them to be Militaristic and Industrial (but that was before they introduced 2 new traits).

Personally I think that they wit well.

Their UU is Hussar (you can see it in Napoleon scenario).

Don't kniow about planed stats for them (I doubt that scenarios specific stats from Napoleon scenario matter).

Here is a pic of their stats in the MP version of the Napoleonic scenario:

Here is their UU the Hussar (6.4.2)

Of course in the scenario cavalry are 90 shields and 5.2.2 unlike the cavalry in the normal game of 80 shields and 6.3.3.

So what the Hussar should be in a "normal" game of civ3 is open to debate.

I think that in some chat Firaxis and BA mentioned 7.3.3 stats, but I'm not sure.

7.3.3 sounds good. What do you think about the shields? 85 or 90 shields?

It has not been as easy as I thought it would be to add Austria to the game. I have done it however. I based the Austrian civ on the Napoleon conquest. There are some differences such as the leader is Charles V and I set the Hussar to 7.3.3 80 shields.

In order to have Austria as a civ you also need to edit PediaIcons.txt.

I noticed in the PediaIcons.txt that under the neutral victory there is an error in the #RACE_BYZANTINES section. Isabelle is the leader head when it should be Theodora. Change the following line: art\leaderheads\x_isabell victory neutral.pcx to art\leaderheads\X2_Theodora advisor.pcx

Austria is also not included in this file so any reference in the civlopedia shows a question mark unless the following lines are added:

                  #RACE_AUSTRIA
                  art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory neutral.pcx
                  art\advisors\x2_Charles_V advisor.pcx

I am going to attach a new conquests.biq that only includes the new civs including Austria. I tried to make sure there are no errors in what units each civ can get but this has not been fully tested by me. I'm hoping someone can help out here. Backup your original conquests.biq before installing this one.

Hopefully you can use this in our PBEM GenghisFarb but I would want further testing so we don't error out down the road.

I took the liberty to improve your mod, by adding Austrian King unit, civilopedia entry and fixing some bugs (upgrade path for Hussar, making Hussar targetable with stealth attack, custom map removed, UU selection repaired, etc).

Only thing left to do is choosing proper primary and secondary color for Austrians (since grey won't work, because it's reserved for barbarians).

Excellent. Thanks for fixing it. This was my first attempt at using the editor. I've noticed that it defaults to red for the color when playing Austria.

Yes, that's because barbarians took grey and red is next on the list.

                            Some Austrian info

FYI: The original design for Austria, had their primary color as "light blue" and alternate as a "medium gray".

The stats for the Hussar would probably have been 7-3-3 (replaces the 6-3-3 Cavalry), and costing 80.
