    Real Game Government Productivity Test

We all know the government stats in terms of tiles, production, and commerce. However, I wanted to see what the results would look like in a “real world” epic game. For this test I was the Celts (agricultural, religious) so anarchy lasted one turn. The year is 2007 and this is actually the post-game, after winning via spaceship. I have all but one luxury and am currently researching Genetics. My nation is well developed with about 100 cities, 471 units, 40% of the world landmass, and 50% of the world population. I moved no units during the test except for automated workers who were managing pollution which did occur during the test. For the gpt and Genetics in X turns stats I adjusted the slider so that gpt was close to zero; the sole exception was Feudalism where the slider was at 100% treasury, 0% science.

    Government……GPT……Genetics….GNP……Man. Goods….App..Rate

    Democracy……+190………6……….3354……..978………….72%
    Monarchy………+37………7……….2017……..879…………..77%
    Fascism………..-7…………7………..2006…….950…………..81%
    Communism……-14………7……….1852………726…………77%
    Republic………+67……….5………..3253……..905………….73%
    Feudalism……...-342……...12………1963……..879………….77%

Annual Income remained at 16 in all cases. What I find interesting is that the science rate for Communism, Fascism, and Monarchy isn’t much worse than Democracy or Republic. The main drawback of Communism is the drop off in manufacturing, dipping to 726. Also noteworthy is that Fascism yielded the highest approval rating.

I was not party to any gpt deals but I still feel these results may need to be rechecked after the gpt bug is fixed.

Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Facism approval rating might have been from lower city populations.
Communist lowered production from lack of Secret Police HQ, perhaps? Though according to alexman, that might have increased corruption.

Always interesting to make comparisons of all governments at various points in different games, but there are some very important questions not really referred to.

What sort of land area spread do you have? Did you have the FP? Are there some large cities, or lots of small ones, and where are each located? Continents or islands? How much infrastructure do you have overall? All of these things would change the figures considerably in different combinations. Communism, for example, is supposed to be better overall for widely spread empires, whereas I can see a Republic or Democracy being miles ahead for a centralised empire around one or two cores. I don;t have C3C yet, so I can't really make a call on Feudalism or Fascism, but they look rather specialised in use.

Your minimap with Palace and FP locations noted would add some interest to these figures for certain, especially in comparison to someone else's game, and in relation to Commercial or Expansionistic civs.

Plus remember that there is a bug relating to the FP and corruption right now.

Ask and ye shall receive: The capitol, of course, is in Entremont towards the bottom right of the frame; the Forbidden Palace is in Glanum in the top left of the frame. As you can see, most of the cities in these cores are size 20-25. There's probably another 10 size 20+ cities.

The cities out of the frame to the left are mostly size 12. The six or seven cities on the other continent to the right are size 3-8.
