Can you play multiplayer with orig Civ3 and C3C?

Can you play multiplayer with orig Civ3 and C3C?

I have the original Civ3, and I have read that "all content in PtW" is included in C3C. Does that just include the data, or can I actually "Play the World" (multiplayer) with Original Civ3 and C3C?

PTW is bundled within C3C.
