You need to add the unit to the rules (mod/scenario or (unrecommended and totally unsupported by developers) the default rules)

Open the editor. Select custom rules from a menu (don't remember the exact layout)

Select Units from the dropdown list in the toolbar.

Click add and type in the Unit name. (Make sure that the Artfolder and Ini-file has the same name)

Give the units stats and an Civilopedia entry.

Edit the pediaicons.txt and civilopedia.txt and add entries for your civilopeidia entry

(You may also use my Unit Creation Wizard (A part of C3MT))

You need to edit units_32.pcx to get the icon to show up. My tool is in a thread in the Files forum. Civ3MultiTool.

Take a lok at the text files and check how the entries for a given unit look (take the scourt for example. (I'm at a computer without Civ3 finstalled right now, so I can't guide you mush better. use my tool. it's easier. but you still have to edit the PCX file with a graphic editing tool retaining the paletteorder.))

You need to edit the units_32.pcx file with a grapic editing tool that handles pcx files with retained pallettes and copy the icon into that file.
