  • Conquests Install Warning

As an FYI, the Install program reset my monitor to 60 hertz (the flicker-induced headache-hell setting). It may be related to XP not recognizing my monitor (an NEC 5 FGe), but you are forewarned........

Another warning for those who use Windows XP Pro (and possibly XP Home, I will check that later) and display of 800x600, it reset my display to 640x480 resolution (15" monitor) after exiting the game.

I am on XP PRO and it did not reset mine (1024). I was sort of suprised to have it install in another folder. I guess they do not want to use Infogrames.

I think the problem is for those who use 800x600 (not sure about other resolutions). The game changes to 1024 when it loads so it shouldn't affect 1024 resolutions. On my XP Home, the resolution is set to 1024 and it doesn't change it after exiting.

The game does NOT use a separate folder on the hard drive. It finds the Civ3 folder present and installs Conquests there.

It does use a different START MENU folder however ... in the Start Menu, Conquests is now found under Atari.

Yeah I checked later and found it used the same folder, just a different start menu. I saw the Atari on the menu and leap to the wrong conclusion.

Well that's almost as bad; I don't want my start menu clutered up needlessly.

                  1.
Is it installed in a separate subfolder under the civ3 folder, just like PtW? So can you play C3C, save in /civ3/C3C/saves/, then play PtW and load a PtW save from its own folder (/civ3/ptw/saves/ ) ?

                  2.
What happens is you open a PtW save with C3C, play a bit and save again? Can you open the save with PtW or does it become a C3C save, unplayable with PtW?

What I want to know is, do I have to use PtW and C3C separately to play my old (PtW) and new (C3C) PBEM games?
