    Is it worth $30
$30 is a greedy price, but for all the scores of hours of enjoyment we will get out of the game it's a steal for the consumers.

It's a win-win for the corporations and consumers, capitalist bliss.

It is advertised for $27AU and $30NZ. With a NZ-US exchange rate of $1: 0.61, that means we get it for the equivalent of US$18.

$30 is a greedy price ? I spent last time 30 $ on a dinner, and it lasted only two hours (OK, for 2 persons, but even so). Now that was a greedy price. If you count the hours one spend playing civ then C3C is basically free

Civ3 is not about stacked combat. Period.

It depends on what you define as stacked combat. If CTP stacks are what you want then I don't think you will ever see it in Civ3.

There are stacked attacks (and have been since PTW) however. To do them move a stack of units next to the tile you want to attack. Do a stack move onto that tile. All of the units try to attack the tile or move into it oncw it is clear of defenders.

If you like Civilization 3, you'll love Conquests. It's breathed new life into the game for me, and I've still been playing it. I really enjoyed PTW, it added a lot to the game. Conquests - adds many times more. Definitely worth it. The scenarios are very well done.

To address the stacked combat thing - build an army. It'll attack as a stack. I think it's a great feature - and once you get it setup, you can build as many armies as you want.

From what I read, it would be worth it to me. I didn't get PTW, so get C3C, which includes PTW, would be worth it.

                          Lucky ANZAC's!

I say yes, and I have only played for about an hour.

Yes, but perhaps you get more, ahem, "bang" for your buck when you go to dinner with that someone special...

(but, still, I'd prefer to pay for the game and cook dinner! hehehehehe)

Yes, I wouldn't pay anything over 30 bucks for an expansion pack. I was really being skeptical a few days ago wrt C3C but I just bought it yesterday.

Here's my short take on the game so far.

Performed in store lift test - passed. (nice heavy box)

Manual is actually filled with some usefull information, unlike PTW's manual.

CD actually came in a plastic jewel case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Game installed without a problem and fired right up. Played for about an hour last night as the Sumerians on monarch level ( my level btw ) and I've never done so well in the opening game in my life. That's not to say this game is easy, not by a longshot. I had a great starting location plus all this tips I've learned here really helped.

You can customize the ai's behaviour to be normal, aggressive, not aggressive etc. You can also extend or shorten the number of turns you can play in the standard game!

Many new features that totally blow away what PTW had to offer when it was released. I have never raved so much about a Sid product since Alpha Centauri. If they keep up the good work Sid may earn my esteem again.

Haven't encountered any flaws/bugs yet but like I said I only played an hour last night. All my experience so far has been with the standard game. Just think, there are 9 scenarios (conquests) with revamped units and tech trees to try out as well!!!
signature not visible until patch comes out.
