Scenario Editor help

i am trying to make a scenario. I am trying to ad the tech Fire.... When i load the scenario i get the following error message "(" I am very new To the editor... Can some one give me some tips on making Units Techs buildings and wonders ... ect i wanna make a cool scenario.

To add techs you need to add the appropraite pictures of the correct size with the correct palette (I think it is 256 Index). The file format must also be .pcx . Then in the editor add your tech and set all the properties. You will not have arrows to your new tech unless you edit the background pic with the arrows. Then the most important part is adding a pediaicon entry:

One entry will look like this:


# Small Tech Icons
#TECH_Fire
Art\tech chooser\Icons\XX-Fire-small.pcx


# Small Tech Icons is the heading for this group


Then another entry with:


# Large Tech Icons
#TECH_Fire_LARGE
Art\tech chooser\Icons\XX-Fire-large.pcx


Save your .bic/.bix and play.

i still get this error "("

Yuo need to #TECH_Fire for the small icon in the pediaicons.txt file.

I tried both the last two....I still get this anyonying error message "("

Could you get a screenshot of the error message?

Also: do you ave a #DESC_TECH_Fire entry in the civilopedia.txt file?

Does the game continue after this error? Or does it crash? When you you get it?

the game closes and i have to relaunch the game

Is it on scenario load, or in the game?

Sorry if this is insulting your intelligence but make sure you have all the .pcx files in their correct places and make sure that the file lines point to these .pcx files. You must have the two pediaicon entries and for the civilopedia you need a DESC entry below the main one.

Just format your new entries like the others already in the file.

And i just though I would ask because it has been the case with other people: are you using a legally purchased version of the game?

Have you tried Atari support?

IIRC, Atari and Firaxis don't support mods. In fact, I doubt there are ANY software developers that support (unofficial) mods.

They probably wouldn't support the mod but maybe if he said he got a "(" error message they would have some advice. That error message is weird, I have never read anything else about it.
