I don't think I like the idea of these new wonders... seems to be rather unorganized.

Templar Knights had just a religious and political role and it was very limited both in time (a few dozen years) and in area (basically, Palestine, Cyprus and a few other East Mediterranean places, mainly islands).Startaff

Knights Templar.
Thanks to Startaff for pointing this thread in the right direction.
He's being polite when he describes the concept as "stretched". The Templars were a political-religious group who had their own autonomous agenda and power. They were not the tool of any nation, and were often deemed subversive by state & church powers. Many claim that their main initial concern may have been the excavation of the still-contentious temple site in Jerusalem looking for genealogical records.
If there's to be a unit-spitting wonder then OK, call it something else, and if it's confined to a crusades scenario it could make some sense, but it would seem odd for the Knights Templar to be an unexpiring default-game wonder. If it was an expiring Middle Age small wonder, then maybe a modern equivalent could be the Mujahadin.
I know we can't get too bogged down in bickering over historical accuracy - I'm not questioning how Leo's shed of a workshop upgrades a spearman to a Mech Inf so cheaply - but the mystery of the Knights Templar works best in Adventure games, IMO!

since almost every wonder has a date of expiration , why not , .....
and if one does not come with it , there is always the editor , .....
so in any case , both the people who like it to expire and the people who dont like it to expire shall be happy , ....

Actually, Portugal was originally a subject state to the Kingdom of Leon, before expanding at the expenses of the Muslim southern region.
The Templar order (officially named "Ordine dei cavalieri poveri di Cristo" = Order of the poor knights of Christ but better known as Templar Knights as they had their 1st seat in the Al-Aqsa mosque in the former Salomon's Temple plain) was founded in 1119 in Palestine.
They accumulated great wealth in Palestine and developed a fruitful system of loans to the European kingdoms and nobles which eventually earned them envy and hate.
In 1307 the king Philip IV (with the pope Clemente V approval) arrested almost all the Templars and burnt with the accusation of sacrilege and satanism the last Grand Master Jacques de Molay.
In 1312 the Order was officially suppressed and its riches distributed to other orders.
Again, they had no real military relevance (and surely they did not represent any kind of "advance" or "breakthrough" in the military history)
Don't know what you mean with "they built Portugal and half of France". In 13th century France was pieced together by the efforts of Louis IX and Philip le Beau.

hi ,
some facts , most of the wealth was build in france , ....
they build schools , hospitals , fortifications , roads , aquaducts , graneries , libraries , harbors temples , cathedrals and a whole bunch of other things , ....... so if you dont call that building a country , .....
do you really believe louis and his other friends build france , .....
they did not die piecing it together , ...... the knight templar's did , ......
not to mention of the money they gave the guy to pay and run the rest of his country , .....
one just has to take a look at all the fortifications and cathedrals they build all over the south of france , .... any tourist can testify to that , ......
so yeah , its save to say that they did all the hard work while the leader , king louis was getting drunk and running after woman , ......
the french did not want to pay the money back , hence there was nothing anymore left , and a whole bunch of other things madi it so that the french wanted them all death ( a death man cant collect his debts ) , so they went to modern day portugal , .... and they named and builded it , ......
