i was uninstalling civ from my computer when the power got shut off, i tried to complete uninstalling but i could not so i trashed the civ directory. now when i try to reinstall the game the disk doesn't recognize that the game is off my computer

You have to clean the Civ III register keys from your system registry.

look manually for files like , civilization , infogrames , firaxis , arts , etc , ........

delete those , reboot , reinstall , get patch , enjoy the game

make sure you turn all your hard and or software off while doing this

You might want to try a small file called regcleaner thats freely available. It doesnt do anything you couldnt do yourself but it does make it a little easier.
