  • PTW Hall of Fame & custom colors

I've redone the color schemes for all the civs in my game because frankly HOT PINK for the French is too unrealistic no matter what my feelings toward that civ are. So I've given every civ more respectable colors but now when I retire my scores are no longer recorded in the Hall of Fame.

Is there a way to fix this problem? I can live without the HoF but if I can get my scores recorded I'd be happier (after all the civs should have had better colors to begin with, and I should get my monies worth from the game).

IIRC, once you start modding the BIX files, the scores indeed no longer recorded.

Don't think there is a fix either.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

So this goes for making ANY modification to the Bic/bixs? I take it then that many just don't bother with the HoF then?

Right. However, you can make your entries to the HighScores.cv3 file manually, and they will show up on the screen, but with the default colors. (Of course, this allows cheaters to forge high scores, but IMO the HoF is for personal interest only, not for comparisons between players.)

Check out this thread for details. Note that PTW reads the HighScores.cv3 file in the PTW folder.

The only way to accomplish what you want to do, I think, would be to modify the palette.pcx file, but I haven't tried. I'd love to hear from anyone who successfully did this.

Thanks for the information Purple. I've actually tried to modify the palate but I've never had any success. Once I painted it all one color just to see if I could screw up the graphics but nothing happened...

With this information I can make my HoF so at least I'll know where I've come from.

That's very interesting, and discouraging. I was hoping that would work. Maybe the palette.pcx file is merely for reference.

Yes, and you can copy the vanilla Civ3 stats to the PTW file if you like.

I also maintain an Excel file to track this and other information on each game (type of mod, if any, date of completion, number of players, map size, etc.), as the Hall of Fame does not track everything I want to remember.
