  • Strange Graphics? Problem

    Hi,

When I start up PtW, my monitor goes black the way it always does when something is trying to run at an incompatible resolution. My monitor maxxes out at 1024x768. I tried using the .ini settings to force the resolution to 1024 and 800, but it didn't help. Is there anything else that could be causing this?

Are you sure you are doing it right 'cause the ini settings work for me.

        1. Do you have your monitor drivers installed?
        2. Do you have up-to-date drivers for your graphics accelerator?
        3. Have you manually set your screen refresh rate or is it on Optimal?

One of those three things Ras asked is probably the cause of your problem. Even more than one.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

I had a similar problem when I first installed Windows XP. It cleared up when I updated my video drivers.

Well, I just finished installing and patching SMAX for the next demogame, and I have the same problem. My monitor is listed as a "Plug and Play Monitor" though, so I'll see if there are more specific drivers out there.

I've installed the correct monitor drivers and everything is working great. Thanks everyone, especially Ras.

No problem. Next time ask it on CGN.
