  • invalid page faults have stolen civ3 from me - please help!

    Hi

This is the first message I've posted anywhere, ever. Fitting that it should be about civilization...

I desparately need help with civ3. It (along with my long-ailing computer) is suffering from a number of problems, but the most consistent one now is that it doesn't start at all anymore. During load-up, I now keep getting this message:

CIVILIZATION3 caused an invalid page fault in module ~DF394B.TMP at 0137:10044598

I know a modest amount about computers, enough to understand that a) this file doesn't exist anywhere except on the CD, 2) the civ3 support site has ****-all to help me, and 3) I'm out of my league trying to fix this. Can anybody out there point me in the right direction?

Oh, and occasionally civ3 will tell me that the fault is occurring in kernel32.dll. My gut tells me that this is also a pretty serious problem.

    Dan

Do you have any other problems with your computer?

Assuming you have Win 98/ME, I suggest that you uninstall Civ III (also manually check that the folder was removed) and then install it again and update to the newest version. Also try to run Scandisk to see if there's any disk problems. Any other stability concerns or other problems?
