  • scenario problem: Time Threat Paradoxon

I finally downloaded the 10MB thing from the Cradle of Civ website. But when I start the installation, it says (after I agreed with the licence):

"You need to own Civ2 Test of Time to install this scenario. Setup will exit now"

Of course, I have Civ2 ToT installed (and yes, it is the original, no warez crap), incl. the patch v1.1...

Can someone help me to get the scn installed correctly? The only reason I can imagine for this problem is that I have the German version...

i've the french version and i had no problem with TTP install
try to reinstall ToT, i've heard that TTP needs have been done before the patch 1.1 perhaps german patched version is not recognize.

(i've succesfull install it with the french patched version, i've just re-patch to 1.1 after TTP install)

I've found TTP.... boring ! but i do not understand english very well and this scenario have a lots of events texts !

Yes, Eyn is right , in order for the Time Threat Paradox scenario to work , you have to basically reinstall Test of time without the patch, install the Time Threat scenario and then install the 1.1 patch in that order.

I also managed to install on unpatched and patch afterwards.
I had a problem sith the scenario however (slight spoiler follows), in that several times in Elsewhere in times, I get my future traveller stuck in Australia, where he can stay and do nothing and there is no way to complete the game because of that. If it was killed, it would re-spawn elsewhere, but if you disband it, then nay. (I could cheat to have it pop out somewhere but duh...)

            Bernd,

I downloaded mine from Apolyton when it first came out (~ 2 years ago) and haven't had any probs.
If you open up the .exe in winzip or somesuch there should be a file called Lang.dat which has a list of the language versions supported (Mine had about a dozen or so including [I think] the German version). I don't think this shows up as an option in the setup though - I guess it just defaults to whichever version you happen to be running.
One warning that showed up indicated problems installing if the ToT directory had been moved since installation without updating the system registry but I'm guessing that wasn't the problem?

Thanks to all, I installed it after reinstalling ToT without the patch (installed the patch later too)

The scenario seems to have disappeared, with all the links I have come across for 'download' leading to 'missing file' or other errors ... even on the Cradle site.

If anyone has a 'live' link or doesn't seem to have problems beginning their download, please advise. Cheers!

The link in the apolyton database goes to the microprose ftp site (which doesn't exist anymore IIRC) but the Cradle of civ seems to work fine for me ...
Could it be another version of that firewall thing that prevented you from accessing the Sleague site?
(Currently dling again just as a test ~ 26% done).

                    Ravagon,

                    Hmmm how curious?

The link I'm trying with is http://apolyton.net/coc/scenarios/sc...s/CIVIITTP.exe - is this the same as the one you've had luck with?

I don't think that it's a firewall problem, and turning off my anti-virus doesn't seem to help either.

                    Thanks for looking into it.

                      Cam,

I have a feeling this came up recently in an Sleague thread but I think the url changed slightly. I got to this one through the news section on the frontpage.

The download seems fine (starts unpacking ok) although I can't test it properly as I'm not on my home PC at present.

                      cheers

Thanks once more. Unfortunately this link doesn't even get me to download point. I'm sure once the download begins it's fine. I can't imagine a good reason why, but maybe its a MS Internet Explorer 6 thing? If you've had success with it, perhaps it is something with my system. I appreciate the help you've offered.

                            Eyn,

It's surely something with my system, as I'm ending up with the same problem.

Thanks nonetheless ... and it's great to re-visit your site.

                              Sorry Cam,

Just retried using the link I posted earlier and it didn't actually work using the whole pathname in one go - maybe one of those protection things similar to angelfire/geocities sites?

                              However the link:-

and then selecting the scenario yields the same pathname as in the previous link and seems to dl just fine as I am at this moment eating up more bandwidth by downloading it again.
(I'd better stop now or techumseh/Kull etc will get mad )

I'm using IE 5.5.something and Go!zilla as a dl manager btw.
