This forum's been empty for awhile...

The best strategy seems to be putting as many units as you can in your gunboats and streamers and sending them down the nile to take all the adjacent cities (Dongola, Merowe, etc.) while building a railroad from Wady Halfa to Abu Hamed and beyond so you don't become trapped when the cataracts become unnavigable and you need to capture a city that can't be sea bombarded.

Does anyone have any good strategies for Allard Höfelt's scenario? *glances in Xin Yu's general direction*
    Xin:
I heard you captured every city but El Fasher, how did you do it?

Cal: I didn't capture all (but one) cities. I think I missed 4 or 5 by the end of the game. However I'm sure I can do it if I replay the scenario. The gunboat strategy you mentioned was exactly the one I used. The only difference is that I did not attack all early targets but moved several of my ships to the enemy capital directly. After capturing the capital, I attacked from several fronts to occupying cities quickly. Naval bombardment is the major weapon for me.

I managed to finish this with every city captured except El Fasher (and Fashoda.. but you're not supposed to capture that one).
