  • Alternate History: History of Pacifica Raillines

This history started in the 1830's because of the ineffiency of the stagecoach's speed and limited capacity. Four investors thought that building a railway would help the transporting the people. The steam engine and railroad was already discovered so the company decided to start building railways. the people of Pacifica laughed at the four businessmen and did not finance the operation. So the businessmen built in intercity railroad in Los Angeles. The railroad was not an immediate success, but after a couple of years it was a success. The company then decided to expand rail service. When the Pacifica-Mexican War erupted the company's trains were used to move troops to the front lines. Afterwards the company was renamed Pacifica Raillines, in honor of the efforts towards the war effort.

Now Pacifica Raillines is a Large Congolmerate. It owns power generation stations (to run the electric trains it owns), motels, a couple of casinos, and a financial company. It invests heavly in the stock market and invests in worldwide markets. It is also publically owned company.

Still Pacifica Raillines is big on raillines even though it brings in the least amount of money. Pacifica Raillines created recently a subsidery called the PRLVMS. This subsidery was created soley for Maglev research.

Newly appointed president Kevin Kole of Pacifica Raillines was preparing for a senate hearing to question his company's new idea of a Meglev system for Pacifica. His palms were sweatly because he knew that if he could not pull this off that he was going to be transfer to Siberia. He started studying the reports that were sent already to the congress and knew that they might be laughing at him for proposing such a propostirus idea. He got his ticket to Siberia ready and boarded the plane to the capitol. He was hoping that the plane would crash before he reaching the capitol, but he knew that he would be there and he would have to answer tough questions.

Kevin Kole was now at the Senate building of Pacifica. His palms were sweaty and he was nervous all over. He bought a newspaper before entering the capitol building. He thought that reading the newspaper while waiting for the hearing would sooth his mind. So he unfolded the newspaper and read the Front Page.

Pacifica Raillines Inc. Fusion Power Research Station Almost Blows Up

A fusion power research station secretly built by Pacifica Raillines this year because of their needs for power for their locomotives, befell a mishap that should not of happen. One of the machines was damage at the center and almost destroyed the lab and the area around it. It is speculated that President of Pacifica Raillines is in congress to answer these questions. The CEO Pacifica Raillines has open and in-house investigation what happen at the fusion power station. One of the theories is that the station was sabotaged. The CEO of Pacifica Railroads had no comment to the press about if the government come in the investigation and President Kevin Kole has not been found to answer questions.

      -------------------------------------------------------

Kevin Kole now got really nervous because not only did he have to answer questions about Meglev, he had to answer question about the secret research center and why it almost blow up. Kevin Kole took out his ticket to Siberia and started to cry.

Out of the corner of his eye he found a news crew approaching him and he started walking to the chamber. A security guard waved him in saying that the hearing was about to commence. Kevin Kole didn't know which he feared more the question of commitee members or the questions from the members of the press. A lot other things like his supposely trip to Germany later this year also raced through his mind.

Weeks have past since Kevin Kole has been asked to take part of a governmental hearing. The biggest problem on the minds of the Government was Nigeria. Kevin Kole did not really care about the war except that the oil power plants that Pacifica Raillines owned might have raised prices.

Kevin Kole stayed in his hotel room secluded from newscasters about the incident involving the Fusion Power Research Station. He waited until the congress wanted do the hearing again.

Kevin Kole thought that this was a good thing because it meant that he did not have to go to Siberia yet. The plane ticket expired anyway, but the wait was unbearable. He had places to go and business to conduct but instead he was still stuck at the capitol. At least he did not have to listen to the CEO of Pacifica Raillines.
