In 1992 the Pomeranian Military District (formerly the Bydgoszcz Military District) in the northwest included three mechanized divisions (formerly designated as motorized rifle divisions), one coastal defense unit, one artillery unit, one Scud missile installation, one engineer brigade, and one SA-6 missile installation. Between 1989 and 1992, a fourth mechanized division in the district had been converted into a supply base, and a tank division had been disbanded.

In the Silesian Military District (formerly the Wroclaw Military District), two tank divisions were converted to mechanized divisions between 1990 and 1992, and one mechanized division was converted to a supply base in 1990. In 1992 those changes left the district with four mechanized divisions, two artillery units, one Scud missile installation, two engineer brigades, two SA-4 missile brigades, two antitank brigades, and one SA-6 missile regiment.

This is the largest tactical strike force of the Polish Navy. Its goal is the carrying out of missile against on groups of enemy surface vessels and ships as well as the sinking of enemy vessels by submarines. The Flotilla groups all of the assault missile ships (the 1 st and 2 nd Squadron of Missile Ships and the missile destroyer ORP "Warszawa") as well as submarines (the Submarine Squadron). The Flotilla has the largest group of rescue ships. Hydrographic vessels (the Hydrographic Service Support Squadron) subordinated to the Naval Hydrographic Bureau, as well as a group of reconnaissance vessels, and a Training-Research Vessel Squadron, are based in the port of Gdynia.

[*]8th Coastal Defense Flotilla (Swinousjcie)
This is responsible for the defence of the sea zone adjoining Poland's western coastline. The main tasks of the 8th Flotilla are antisubmarine warfare and counter-mine warfare. The 8th Flotilla's ships are based in the naval ports in Swinoujscie and Kolobrzeg (16th Antisubmarine Warfare Cutter Squadron). The Flotilla is composed of the 2nd Transport-Mine-Laying Ship Squadron and the 12th Minesweeper Squadron. The shore units of the 8th Flotilla are intended to carry out specialised tasks. Engineering tasks are carried out by the 8 th Kolobrzeski Sappers Battalion and 4 th Minelaying Battalion in Dliwnów. Visual-technical observation and communications posts of the 8 th Signals and Obserwation Area in Swinoujscie conduct a permanent observation of inshore coastal waters. The anti-aircraft defence of the Flotilla is ensured by the 8th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion in Mildzyzdroje.

Army Addendum: “Supplimental Regiments” serve as recon/intel forces, as well as filler. They receive an abbreviated training program focusing on breadth of knowledge and skills, not quality of the skill. “SF/RD Forces” endure a longer training period, focusing on rapid deployment, securing a region, insertion, and other skills of a similar nature. Only males 18-27 are accepted into the SF/RD Program, after which they receive a lucrative bonus and decommissioning. LAV’s constitute a number of varying light tanks, assault jeeps and similar vehicles.
