  • Question on batch files for civ 2 with win7 PC

    Hi all, I'm using a windows 7 PC with MGE - I was a big civ 2 guy back in the day but have gotten back into all these outstanding custom scens. Anyways, a couple really outstanding scens such as final days, wars of the med, and the struggle for europe use batch files to choose a specific starting point, ie 'summer' or '1942' - when I try to start these, the DOS window pops up and disappears instantly, rendering these scens unplayable. I tried running the batch file in a number of compatibility modes to no avail - does this sound like a win7 problem or something else?

    Thanks!

    -> open startmenu

    -> look in all programs or programs/acessiores

    -> Choose command prompt

    -> copy path from explorer

    -> use cd command to get to the right path ( e.g. cd c:\programs\microprose\Civ2MGE\Scenarios\Redfront )

    -> now you can start the batch by typing it

    Please tell if it worked for you.

      That's not it. You need the choice.com file in the scnario folder.

      I'd upload it but it's so d**n hard to upload files to this site nowadays!

          Note about the choice file, I hope I am not spreading wrong information, but it should be enough to have the choice file in your windows system directory, so that you donðt need to have it in the scenario folders.

            thanks to all for your input so far, much appreciated! Arthedain, your choice file does get the DOS menu to pop up, but unfortunately I have a 64 bit system and this leads to compatibility troubles - does anyone have a 64bit choice.com or could I build my own?
