  • Civ 5. Scenario suitabliity?

Civ 5 is imminent. Does anyone have a take on whether or not real scenarios will be possible?

There is s huge On-Line manual for the game,

I´m dowloading it now, it's exciting to see how it looks.

Sadly I donðt have a comp that can run such a game. (Which is all for the best I guess, considering the time the other ones have sucked away.)

Excerpt, page 194: Civilization V has been designed from the very beginning
with the modders in mind, and it is the easiest and most
      accessible Civ yet to mod.

(Hmmmmm, I'll believe that when I see it.....)

More: The easiest way to get into modding is available to anyone with access to a text editor.

(It uses XML like Civ4 I guess.)

Page 195: Coming shortly after release, it will be possible to download Mod-
Buddy and the World Builder SDK, the official modding tools for Civ
      V. This package will allow you to make custom maps and scenarios,
change minute behavior of the game’s AI, and package up
your custom mods so that others can download and enjoy them
too. Check back either on Civ V’s official web page or on the
Steam game page for more information and updates.
ModBuddy and the World Builder SDK will be available for download
through Steam. Navigate to the Tools section of the Games
      tab to download.

No more info that I see at first glance.

Give 'em a year or two for the troubleshoot and patch phase. Better that other people get pissed off. My computer specs lie between the minimum and recommended, so it'll probably run like a dog.

That all sounds promising. Modding games seems to be in vogue at the moment, so hopefully they're serious about it.

            *bump*

Have any of the regulars here bought Civ5 yet? If so, what do you think about the opportunities to mod it and develop scenarios?

I'm waiting for the end of the university semester before I buy it (it's hard enough balancing uni and full-time work!)

I haven't bought CIV5 yet, but I am giving it some thought!
Apparently, there is an "old school" hex mode for the game
that resembles CIV1 and CIV2, that is the selling point for me!
