    It's fantastic.

Psst... I worry about Varwnos. He seems to be producing loads of top quality graphics quickly and just hope he doesn't burn out.

Some stuff made of wood: a medieval cart with some logs, and an ancient japanese house.

These are really beautiful renders Varwnos Do you still use Blender for your creations?

                  Hi Fairline

These all were made with Bryce 6, not Blender, i think i never went past cubes in Blender

I also have 3dsmax, but i am not that familiar with it.

Ah OK, I was confusing Bryce and Blender. I'm looking at dipping my toe into 3D stuff - I want to be able to generate multi-view sprites from a 3D model and render them with sufficient detail for them to be useable for civ2 or PeG. Can you recommend Bryce for this, as I really don't want to spend a huge amount on 3ds Max?

I absolutely do not recommend Bryce for animated stuff, since it is said to be very difficult to do human/humanoid gfx in it. It is better for tanks, airplanes etc, and easy to use, but i have only seen one person do breathing things in it.
Most people use Poser for human animated models.

No, I was meaning specifically tank and plane 2D sprites rather than actual 3D animation of people models in Poser. Effectively multi-view versions of the icons you are making, but with additional N, NE, E, SE etc orientations.

How much, if any, 'post-processing' do you do with your city icons after you've rendered the 3D model, or do you do all your work at 'full scale' as it were? I guess I'm trying to work out if Bryce is able to resize a render to the kind of small scale we use for civ2/3 sprites without losing too much detail.

Is there a community making 3d tanks and planes in Bryce btw? If so, do they generate 2D sprites from them?

No post-processing at all, apart from some steps i devised to make the bryce image (which has a background) usable in civ3. Namely i save the image in 256 colours, making sure that the background is reduced to at most 4 colours, and then manually fill in those so that i end up with the blue background.

You can resize anything you want to.

The cfc civ3 forums have a number of people who create 2d sprites, and one of them uses Bryce (Wyrmshadow).

The latest version of Bryce is 7, but it appears that it isnt that much better than 6.1, that i use. So you might want to check that first to see if it it good enough for you
