Still check out this place and occasionally download a new scenario, but real life means most of my playing days are behind me. When I came back this time I was surprised to learn of the sweeping changes made to the staff at 'Poly - why this has occurred is still unknown to me.

I would not like this place to go the way of the dodo.

You have my full support to be our spokesman Tech. Hopefully the new owners will keep going any active forums and as far as I can tell the Scenario League is still ticking over. I also believe there is a significant number of people who read through threads here without necessarily posting themselves.

Humour me, when did I announce that? I don't even think I have those files anymore.

I support Techumseh as our spokesperson. I definitely think it's reasonable to take some precautions against future possibilities.

Don't worry, I'm still here. I am definitely worried about the future of this forum. I've met a lot of good people here, and played scenarios I couldn't ever have experienced without you guys. I do agree we have to stand up for our Scenario League, especially if we're officially autonomous in all rights. We must be diplomatic, yet firm. I also know nothing about these new owners and administrators; they're at this point just names to me. I fully back Tech on this most worthy mission.

Tremendous! :b Thanks, everyone. There are two areas I'd like to enquire about with the new owners. The first is the overall financial health of Apolyton and the prognosis for the future. If things go badly in the next few months, I'll ask for a committment to give us as much warning as possible, should the worst occur.

Second, I'll inquire as to their plans for our part of the site. This includes our forum and it's archive, and the Scenario League wiki as well as the Cradle of Civilization site. Related sites in which we have a stake are the Civilization Scenario Collection and the Spanish Civilization site, so I'll ask about those too. Have I missed anything?

I'll PM the new bosses with these questions, though I'm sure they're following our discussion. I'll get back to all of you.

I have been hanging around this site for the last 5+ years and have enjoyed every minute of it. The amount of talent engaged in developing scens is truly amazing for so small a forum. So is the degree of civility with which we disagree and argue.

Tech has my full support in approaching the new owners regarding their plans.

The Civ II archives are a priceless asset and every effort should be made to preserve them. Perhaps someone much more knowledgeable than myself could give some thought to this and to possible other host sites.

EDIT: Sorry about the partial X-post. Dial-up is sooooooo sloooow. I think that the points Tech intends to raise are definitely the critical ones for any further action on our part.

Perhaps while we are at it, we should also name an archivist, or in the very least appoint someone with a lot of storage space and the time. It would be a real loss to the Civ2 community, to see all these spectacular units, scenarios etc. ending up lost to the sea of time.

Don't worry. As of now there is no discussion on folding the Civ II Scenario League forum. Some forum sections will be moved around, but from Staff discussions we have not forgotten you fellows.

Hi guys! I too am eager to see what Rob says.

I think we won't be affected too much, the new admin are willing to keep things running
as smooth as they were under the old admin. We are one of the 'On-Topic' places that
are still alive. The OT is a unique part of Poly that gets very over-excited at times...
That is why the guys over there were making up horror stories about the place being
totally changed - From my perspective, I am pretty sure we will carry on as normal.

Which brings me onto a related item...

I need a new mod helper!!! Arthedain is not always around, and I need a person from the
regulars (with the time) to cover the place if I am not here... What we also need perhaps
is a dedicated news man to help make new CIV2 news and articles. I don't have the time
to cover the CIV2 news in the forum, but can help of course...

What I am saying is that I am thinking of asking the admin to promote a new mod for CIV2.

If Arthedain wishes to stay on as mod, I am totally cool with that, but I need someone
here that is on the board at least once a week...And if you are wondering where I have
been, I have been watching, but also have been busy putting several comics together
and making a new events and ruleset for a Eurasian Wars update...!

I'll contact the admin about the mod thing today - And then get back to you all.

                            PPS
I reckon we need to look at ways to bring people here, or at least keep things
lively...And that means mods, projects and scenarios! I think we should finally
dust off that long-rumoured monster: "THE SL GROUP SCENARIO PROJECT!"

I would like to put my name in the hat for a moderator post. I generally have a bit of time every day to check on things and I am keen to help in any projects that could increase the numbers visiting this forum and playing the excellent CivII scenarios that the members here create. I also have some ideas for ways to drive things forward in the future.
