  • Have I encountered a glitch or something?

So I and a buddy decided to play a game of Civ2 together. Since he never had played more than two games of Civ2, we started on Warlord level. Naturally, I'm pwning him(but we agreed in advance neither will attack the other), even though I'm not that good, and currently it's 400-something BC. I built the Apollo Project some turns ago, and have the tech to build some of the parts, but I don't have the option to build any space ship parts! At first, I just thought it was some glitch, but now it's been some 10+ turns and still I can't build anything. So I tried to open the spaceships window, and was told that the space race has not yet begun. Have I encountered some kind of bug? I can't remember having this problem in the old days, but it's been a while... The rules is set to standard, and the Apollo Project was built, so I should be set to go as far as I'm concerned.

Spaceship parts cannot be built prior to 1 AD. I don't think this is documented in the manual or readme file, but it's clearly stated in section 1.1 of solo's early landing guide (topped thread). The options should come up as soon as you leave the BC period. You can spend the time researching and building some Manufacturing Plants to make up for the delay with a faster construction.

You can even start building wonders in the BC years and then with the zoom to city trick build the spaceshipparts in 1AD and launch it at 1 AD
