  • Multiplayable Extended Game

I've noticed that the "Extended Game" is an option on the single player game, but it isn't listed as an option on setting up a multiplayer game.

My question is can it be done (a multiplayer extended game)?

A work around that I've tried is to first set up a single player extended game, then save the game on my very first turn - but save it as a ".net" instead of a ".sav." Then I start a multiplayer game and load the .net saved game. It seams to work except for the following:

    1. I have the UN Wonder. There are 7 players in the game (2 Human, AIs). However, I can only see through my, foriegn advisor, 5 players and not the 6th - who should have been the Alien opponent. This is undrstandable since the alien opponent is on Alpha Centauri and not on Earth.

    2. I ran into a 6th player on earth - and it wasn't the alien race...it was the Native Americans! However, he doesn't show up on the foriegn advisor and even when I try to establish an embassy with him, nothing happends. The other human player has also tried to establish an embassy with the "Native Americans" but to no avail.

Me nor my human opponent have not built our spaceships yet for the journey to Alpha Centauri...I'm wondering if we'll be able to land and start a city on Alpha, or if the game will then just end like in CIV2.

Does anybody have any insight into this possible problem?

Hmmmm, well I see the non-responses can be for one of two possible reasons:
    A. No one has a clue what I'm talking about
    or
    b. Everyone knows what I'm talking about, but has no advice

Well, thanks anyway...I'll most likely find out for sure when I land on Alpha Centauri.

    Ciao!

Well, I know what your talking about but I've got no advice unfortunately
The only tot mp games I've played were on the Zone and they're all satisfied with the original game...
At a guess you will be able to land on AC and the game will continue. I just tested the extended game on my PC and in a multiplayer the AC map is there. Assuming you have the save file located in the extended game directory everything should work fine.
I'm unsure what you mean about this 'Native Americans' problem. Do you mean that there is no civ on AC, and instead they are on Earth as the 'Native Americans'?

Well, during the game the map will jump from Earth to Centauri (of course, at this time I only show a black screen for Centauri). So I too believe that it is actually the extended game. Concerning the Native Americans, they were not one of the 7 civilizations that were being played. When I set up the game, I selected the AIs. I believe the alien race I chose were the Grau. I believe the Grau have now made it to Earth, but instead of being called the Grau, they are being called the "Native Americans" ... but I have no proof of this except for the fact the human players cannot establish embassies with them and they don't show up on the Foreign Advisor screen. Hopefully my friend and I can get back to this game to see what happends (We're currently involved with Europa Universalis -EU)
        Ciao!
