  • Midgard's mission too hard to understand

The bifrost... I dont know how to get it.
As well as the dragon lore, ally with dwarf, frost giant.

And runic script asking me to go 68, 124 to find Goblet of life and the city Rot there but how?
I have been there for times, the exact location in 4 world but nothing...

    Driving me crazy.

There are lots of missions that I dont understand, perhaps my english...

    Anyone who plays midgard?
It's so hard for me compared to original games.

    Thanks

    junkai,

I tend to agree with you. Some of the quests (e.g. 'Call to Arms') are pretty vague, or at least less than ideally explained.

    The short answer to your questions;

    - Dragon Lore is only obtained by killing a Dragon unit in battle where you're the attacker.
    - Alliance with Dwarves - be the first to bribe a Dwarf, or obtain 'Metalworking' from negotiating with a tribe if you fail to be the first to bribe.
    - Bribe a frost Giant. Once you have 'Wierding Call' there's a small chance that at some future point in the game you will be able to build the Frost Giant unit. It is possible to trade or steal the 'Ally with Frost Giant' advance.

As for the City of Rot (it's on the Surface World map), I suspect it's been wiped out now by Volsang's Befoulment, which is a 'change terrain' event that decimates the terrain of the surface world map from the bottom, and moves up over time.

There are a few things you can do re. your dilemma. If you're really stuck you can explore and try to decypher the events.txt file. Also, Prima's Official Strategy Guide has a large chapter on the scenario and its quests should you wish to buy it.

b.t.w. Which tribe did you select to play? If it was the Infidels, they're regarded as the least likely to succeed due to the particularly difficult start they get.

Yup, those 'marker' advances are very vague. I am thinking of it by having played it for several times and to save certain stages so that I can reload and play it to see waht's the difference n connection among the signs, races, those advances.

I FIND OUT THAT WE CANT HAVE THOSE 3 ALLIES ADVANCES IN MIDGARD...

Thanks. I get dragon when you kill the ancient dragon( in fantasy) ). It should work after this.

Oh I know this but how if I am the second to bribe a Dwarf? WIll I get ally with dwarves + metalworking?

So you mean if we get metalworking from another race who has ally with dwarves can gives us both sciences?

In midgard, bribing frost giant doesnt give you that advance. In fantasy, there is no frost giant to bribe.

In midgard, u cant get ally with frost giant very soon after getting weirding call .

So though the message keeps poping up that we should go to that point to find city of Rot but it never exists and is never to be completed? I dont really understand because my english is not that good...

I think infidel is weakest in midgard...
Their starting place is dangerous also... because the first victim of volsang's release is them.

Goblin is best in this midgard game.

I would never expect that this would be a problem in a single player game, as the computer-controlled tribes will not (in my experience) bribe barbarian units. You run the risk however that they will attack and kill the Dwarves, whereby you need to wait for new Dwarves to turn up (random chance - one in thirty-three turns). The event itself has the 'just once' modifier - so 'no', being the second tribe to bribe a Dwarf does not trigger the 'give technology' event.

I think this message will pop up throughout the game on occasion - even if you've destroyed the city. I suspect it's a small bug in the events file, but I can't see what's wrong with the event structure.

          I see, that helps=)

          Well
          1. Where's Bifrost, the bridge brings us to Asgard? How to find it?

          2. How the get the science Huginn and ...( cant remember) and to build the wonder Deux Ex something...
This advance cant be research and I dont know how to get it.

ps The advance is equivalent to space flight in original game and the wonder is APOLLO PROGRAM there.

          3. I cant win the game even after I have done all the things asked to do. I killed the dragon underground and the one at the North pole, Killed the worm (one moving and another that never moves)and the flytraps in an island, bribe whatever barbrarians I can, killed the creature underground to free him ( a griffin) from evil spell, taken all the flag units of barbrarians...
EXCEPT discovering the Rot in 68, 124 as it has been destroyed I guess...--> that's the wrong thing that may have failed me to end the game.

Really thanks for any advices here.
I am crazy with it for a long time already.
Well, there is no barbrarians left except few creatures that appear constantly on the continents.
God has promised to protect the continent after I took the last 2 flag units and human has admitted my race to be their master.=)
          But I cant win=(.

            here's how you find bifrost.

1.Kill the Elder dragon in the underworld.
2.you must compleate all the quests that, as a reward, give you a piece of parchment. they are:Flytrap island, killing the elder dragon on the surface world, killing the unspeakable horror in the underworld, being the first to kill a worm, being the first to bribe a frost giant, finding the dwarf treasure, being the first to build the brians expedition wonder, and killing the elder dragon in the underworld.
3.reaserch to hanging from Yggdrasil 20 (future tech 20)
4.go to the island at 51,89 on the surface world and kill the unspeakable horror their. that's it

this is the hardest way to win. your best bet is conquering the world or launching the seige engine.

The Elder dragon in the underworld is the one accompanied by a M Kraken right? which makes the surrouding becomes 'caves of wonder' after the dragon is killed?

              1. But I just get a parchment... or is it part of the thing that gives you access to Bifrost? Actually I dont know if BIFROST is a 'terrain square' with special feature or a 'marker' you get after completing quests. In simple, is it something we can 'find' by just exploring each square and step on that square to get it(the way we get a goody box) or something we will be awarded after completing quests.

May I know what's the importance of Brian's wonder?
I dont have any idea about this. Will it give us something like the parchment?

Thanks about the Huginn, hmm future tech 20 ok=)

Err, the unspeakble horror is in the underworld right?
Is there another one in 51,89 on an island?
Well I will try it out now( 1:27am in Malaysia=)

Hehe, the first time I play, I also think completing quests is the hardest way. Conquering the world is much easier from my experience and the building of Great Siege Engine is even faster.

              BUT!!! about conquering the world

==the map is too big, there are few times I killed a civilization but there is still some 'settlers' left and they are still alive and when they build a NEW city somewhere, it's very hard to look for them again=(
I lost track of Buto when they build a new capital after being destroyed by me. The undersea is also very hard to search for new city.

              About GS engine

==I dont know how to get Huginn and thus can't build Deux Ex WONDER. The consequence is then I cant BUILD ANY PART of GS engine=( It didnt tell us EXACTLY how to get the advance but 'steal only' or something like this=(

I will try today, hopefully I can find out the answer soon=)

              Thanks a lot

you have to get all the pieces of parchment to get to the game winning quest. brians gives you a dragon boat after a while.

But I dont know how many parchments there will be?

Hmm... Brian's gives a dragon boat?
Then how is it useful to the quest directly?

                  ~bow~
I have been very grateful for all those helping me
since not many ppl playing midgard( it seems)=)

Although I did not play through it, I think the Bureo is a good civ to play. It is only two techs away from Monarchy and its settlers can fly over the ocean and settle on another continent, which has no babarian threat (barrow wrights). That continent alone can accommodate tens of cities. Research saga after Monarchy and build skalds to tip the huts. You can bribe some useful units out of huts and occationally a dragon boat from barbarian sea raiders. There are two drawbacks for the race: first, difficult to defend at early ages; second, no access to the lower levels until you can get other civ's units.

The key to win this scenario is to settle on the other continent as fast as you can (without losing your capital, of course). Melfork also can access to that continent easily. So can Goblins but the first Goblin settler needs to walk a long way and dig a tunnel at the right place. Goblins has access to underground and the place is full of shield productivity. The bad thing is that, contrary to the fantasy game, the Goblins do not get fanaticism early, hence you cannot build trolls (a cheap, tough, and does not need support unit). That pretty much discounted its advantage.

The three surface races are not good since their capitals are in danger. Stalgin is not good since it cannot research trade.

I maybe wrong somewhere since it has been a long time and I forget which is fantasy and which is Midgrad.

the quests i listed in number two of my original post all give you just one piece of parchment along with the other stuff. just count the number of quests, and that's how many pueces of parchment there are.
