Patches, patches, I confused am in little head.
Lawd, lawd so many patches.
I'm playing Civ2 TOT, v1.0.0. I want to patch it. There seem to be two patches available - a smaller, apparently more recent one numbered 2.42, and an older, much larger one - 1.01. Okey dokey, so I downloaded 2.42 but that doesn't seem compatible (it patched older files on top of newer ones, changed the icon and won't load properly). So now I'm dowloading the larger one, which has worked for me in the past.
So what's the deal? Why is the higher version number smaller and incompatible? My hunch is that 1.01 is for TOT and 2.42 is for a related but different product. Is this accurate? Everyone associated with the web page here seems to be running 2.42 - is this hypothetical "other" product a better release than TOT? I'm newish to the civ community and would much appreciate your kind help and tender guidance.
