Updated graphics, well sort of...
I admit that the cute little animations are nice (though not critical to the game), but some units are very hard to distinguish from other ones. They seem blurry to me.

No, it's not just you practically everyone noticed this! I use the original graphics.
However, Kestrel (I think, could be wrong here) created a HiRes modpack and there is also a sharpened up version of the units available for download too.
