How can I get units to AC without having a spaceship or base there? My understanding is the first spaceship to AC gives settlers there, but subsequent arrivals dont. How on earth can I get Colonists to AC?
If you capture a teleporter that was built by another civ you can get your units though that way or you can steal the Ultrastring Theory form another civ and build your own teleporters.
I thought so, but it's greyed out as an option. I have ultrastring theory already. Hell I've build Starports in my cities on the slim chance it was related to that. Nope. My colonists will not allow me to do it.
Remember, I have no ship on AC...if that matters...
I found one other way, but it probably won't work for you. I started an extended original game as soon as I got ToT. Then I used the first patch, and when I reloaded the game, I was able to research Ultrastring Theory (this was only an option once, the first time I chose what to research after reloading). I took advantage of the opportunity, and was soon using colonists to build teleporters to AC. I don't consider this cheating, because the other civilizations also researched it at the same time. Sorry you can't use this.
On a more practical note, make sure the tile you want to build the teleporter on is a land tile on both maps. If it isn't, you can't build a teleporter there.

DOH!!! Problem was...hardly any matchup squares between the maps. Pretty remarkable, but the way the world is shaped between the two is pretty funny. Very few squares matched up. You'd think I would've checked that first...
