  • Another use of multimaps: Hold-em back

This is the third of several postings to suggest totally different uses of the 4-map capability.

Scenario maps can be set up so that initially, the world is revealed to all, but there is no way to move between maps. The one or two tribes on each map must watch everyone and jockey for strategic position while waiting for the future events that will make transport possible between maps.

In this approach there is either no native transport, or the units that have it cannot use it at first because there are no terrain connections they can move through.

One map could actually be used as a solid barrier. For example, allow ALL units native transport, but only to and from map 1. Then make all the terrain on map 1 initially impassible (and change it later when some advance is discovered, to open up the transport ability).

Barbarians should probably not be used at all in this approach.

Note that you can eliminate the advances that allow intermap city transport, if you want.

Imagine a world where four civs have evolved for 3000 years, with the world fully revealed, and all at once all units are able to move inter-map! Think of the preparations for war! Could be interesting in MPG!
