how do i change the graphics?

i wanna change the original terrain1,2 and the cities files in the original game
what is the best way to do it???????
i tried to change them (with cut and paste) but all i get is black odd square`s in the game

You can't just cut and paste because pallette containes some additional info for the game (that you cant see). Thats what I heard and I gave up. Now that I got used to it, graphics are just fine.

My guess is that you guys are saving the terrian files as 8-bit palletted insteed of 24-bit RGB files.

What graphics editor are you using?

I suggest Paint Shop Pro if don't have a good graphics editor.
