Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Well, to be honest, we've done more Civ2 add-ons than we ever planned to. I think we all agree that it's time to do a major overhaul and create a truly new game--a real sequel, not just an upgrade or add-on. Hopefully, Civ3 will be just that.
I can't give away any secrets (and I don't know very many, anyway), but I wouldn't be surprised if sequels to popular games like Master of Magic, Master of Orion, Pirates, X-COM, the Tycoon series, and so on ended up on our schedule over the next couple of years. (Please don't think I'm hinting around; I don't know that any of these is in the works. It's just a safe bet that MicroProse and Hasbro Interactive are smart enough to do these sorts of games.)
I do know that two X-COM games are in the works (and I'm working on one of them), but that's getting off topic...

ok, no more civ2(noone expected anything different anyway...)
but solve me an enigma please, if you can, john...
is firaxis doing civ3 on their own and hasbro will just publish it, or is microprose in the development too?

Well, as far as I know, Firaxis is doing the actual development entirely themselves--although I know that they've had some talks with Mick and other folks here about general design issues. From what I've seen, though, Hasbro doesn't "just publish" very often. Games from third party developers--yes, even Sid and Brian--go through a pretty rough review and modification process before they're published. Of course, the process is more stringent for the higher profile titles (like Civ3 will surely be). And I'll probably end up editing the manual...
mingko, MtG Gold is off the schedule for now (I don't know exactly why), but since Hasbro now owns WotC, I wouldn't write off the possibility of more Magic products coming out of MicroProse--someday.
MarkG, definitely get the new X-COM Collector's Edition. You won't be sorry. It has working Windows 95 versions of the first three X-COM games--UFO Defense (the best one), Terror from the Deep, and Apocalypse. In the UK, the collector's edition also includes Interceptor and the new e-m@il X-COM.
