  • John! I have a problem!

Okay, I was editing the rules.txt for a scenario, and when I'd finished, I wanted to test it out a bit, so I loaded up my scenario save file and BANG! error message!
and then it closes down civ2 (illegal operation) and a log file appears in my scenario directory (XDAEMON.log). I open it up with notepad and it says this:

    ( 5428) ------------------------------------
    ( 5428) XDaemon reset on, 10:10:14 »
    ( 5428) ------------------------------------
    « Log file closed, 10:10:14 on 10-2-1999 »

what's wrong? I'm sure it's something wrong with the rules.txt, because I took it out of the directory and the save file worked fine.

John, I've sent you the rule.txt in question.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I think we've solved this, but it can serve as a good reminder--even an experienced scenario maker like Dracon can slip up (hope you don't mind me using you as an example)--don't change the "official" abbreviations in rules.txt.
