  • Patch Problems

If u have Solar power plants (from environmentalism) u can't build nuke plants. Solars don't blow up like the nuke ones do (in the game).
    "Wait a minute..this isn''t FAUX dive, it's just a DIVE!"
"...Mangy dog staggering about, looking vainly for a place to die."
"sauna stories? There are no 'sauna stories'.. I mean.. sauna is sauna. You do by the laws of sauna." -P.

If you have any power plants (in that city), or the Hoover Dam (anywhere), you will NEVER get the option to build nuke plants. Power plants do not have a cumulative effect.

      Patch Problems

I need help with this, I applied the patch and it succesfully updated. I was the first to reach Centauras( in year 2026), I continued to play an additional 40 years or so and was still not given the option of UST to research. Is anyone else still having a problem with the UST bug still?

This is very frustrating any help would be appreciated.

You need to reach Centaurus before 2020....

I've just installed the patch, and then resumed a saved game c.980AD. Within a couple of turns (and the odd save) I was offered the chance to research UST. Shortly after, another race "discovered" UST. Now, I'm nowhere near building a spaceship, and nor is anyone else, so what's going on?

Sorry, the fixes made in the patch won't be applied to games saved before the patch was installed. I don't know if that's caused the weirdness you described, but it's possible.

Is it really true that, as Angel Pagan says, you must arrive by 2020? Seems a little strange in a game that continues to 3000 that missing by 1 year means No Go. I did have this happen before applying the patch, but assumed this was all part of the problem that has now (?) been fixed. The scary part begins with the news that I plan to retire in 20 years. What! News to me!
I was really hoping this had all changed now the patch is in. Might find out very soon (though I'll probably arrive long before 2020 this time)

The key piece of info here is that in the Extended Game, everything acts just like a normal Civ II game (except the aliens, of course) unless you reach Centaurus by the traditional deadline--you might still get retired, etc. One of the things we went out of our way to do was to keep the game as true to the original rules as we could, up until the point when anyone made it to AC.

Thanks, John. I'll just calm down and play it by the rules
