  • 2nd Punic War Population Centers

I'm looking for a map of population based on city distribution around the Mediterranean around 200BC or so. I want to somewhat accurately size some cities. Does anyone have a link?

    BUMP!

Sorry Harry, I don't have the info on this, but I'm interested if anyone else has. Anybody?

Edit: There are a few scraps of info here:

Have you considered copying the city pop numbers from other scens like Imperium Romanum?

Hmmm, not too much there. I did do some searching and found some numbers for the largest cities circa 200BC, but that's just talking Rome, Syracuse, Alexandria, Antioch, Rhodes, and Corinth.

I have. If I did I would probably go for another scenario, one that was closer to the time period. It's a good idea, but as I'm trying for direct sources I would rather size my own cities.

I have relatives that are history teachers at some universities in Spain. I am going to ask them for this information, in order to know if they know any source. However, they are medieval historians, so I do not know if I am going to get anything

Like you, I can only find snippets.

In The Demography of Africa James D. Tarver cites a population of 7 million for all of Egypt (from Alexander to Augustus) and 200,000 for Carthage at 146BC.
