  • Best unit stats ever

Which scenario out there has the best unit stats for pre flight units? I don't want to re-invent the wheel if other scenarios has better representation of realistic fighting within the limits of the civ2 engine. Any suggestion is welcome.

Personally I've always held the Bonoparte stats in high regard, but they depend on stackable terrain to work. I guess I could calibrate the defensive stats, but are there better suggestions?

John Ellis´colonies series was very good in that regards IMHO, but I do not remember right now whether that was with stackable terrain or not.

Yes, good suggestion, Yaro. I playtested Colonies IV and I remember the stats were very well thought through. And it is non-stackable!

But please, I'm open for other suggestions.

Other too good scenarios IMHO: Exile´s 1870 (up until artillery) and Paul Cullivan´s Bronze Age. From Paul´s scen I like specially the way the units progress in time (Early Chariot, Chariot I, etc) and how does that affects their stats.

I want to use stats that utilise and emphasise infantry to a high degree.

Any of John Ellis's scenarios - the 100 Years War and Boney scenarios seem to have well matched unit stats. The latest version of boney uses stackable terrain IIRC (?)

Ellis was indeed a master at unit balance - And inventive use of unit roles!

Was? I really hope that you are using it because he does not longer has time for civ, not for any other reason

The unit stats in John Ellis´Bonaparte II are a must-see for serious scenario designers. John's also a nice bloke, so I imagine that he'd be happy to answer questions.
