  • Other uses for forest slot (terrain2)?

    Hello Apolyton Civ2 community!

    I'm a new member, but I'm a veteran Civ2MGE player. I had idea of doing a new WWII scenario some months ago. Now I'm working in a Burma Campaign scenario, my first scenario for Civ2MGE.
    I won't use forest terrain in my map, I will only use jungle terrain. But I want to use free slot in some good way.
    Can anybody help me? Need some idea...
    (Sorry for my bad english...)^^

    I would create an extra large terrain feature, of a big city spread.

    The FW scenario 'X-Com' and Harry Tuttle's 'Atomic Eagle' has some excellent uses of Terrain2.

      If you look at the X-Com scenario that came with Fantastic Worlds, you can see how the interlocking terrain of forest (or hills or mountains) can be integrated into larger map graphics. Other examples are Favourite Flight's Tolkien scenarios or Smiley's San Francisco scenario.

      The other use is for something linear, like a wall, a border, or a fortified line. Tim (Hi-Res) Smith made a fine Great Wall terrain, which I used in Warlords of China. There are lots of other examples out there.

        It could also be used for an alternative rail/road, if you want 1)to create a road that has a different movement value than the "normal" road but not the unlimited range of the RR and/or 2) you want to do something special for the rail/road (such as use ToT's "forbidden terrain" feature to confine certain units to the paved and the railed (see tecumseh's Warlords of China for an example of that)

        Just some thoughts.

            @Curtsibling:
            Big city spread is a good idea, but for this I think about using the RR.

            @techumseh:
            I'll look at these scenerios...
            thx techumseh...

            @N35t0r:
            Hmm, minefields isn't so good for my scenario. I didn't read anything about the extensive use of minefields in the Burma Campaign... But I can be wrong...

            This sounds good... How can I use this? A larger movecost for the other terrain types?
