      Hi Phenix

I have the units for your Age of Crusades scenario plus some others I made for Harlan's Mongols (ToT )

BeBro has some good early medieval stuff, and Jamestout has some excllent Middle Ages stuff. There's not too much in the way of 11th / 12th C. units though.

Did you have something in mind you need?

Apologies for butting in but I too have been trying to make some graphics updates for scenarios such as Alexius and Basilius, the Hundred Years War and so on. I agree with Exile that the Medieval period is under represented in terms of quality Gareth Birch original units!

Although there are excellent graphics available by artists such as BeBro, Jamestout and yourself I seem to be unable to complete any of these mods in a uniform fashion.

What I would really like to see is the gaps filled so that these updates and future projects have adequate units available to represent all the major players.

For the modern era I find it much easier to cut and paste together some adequate mods (see the Balkan Wars), but with the medieval period I am hopeless!

I really like these units by Mathias Koster (from Death and Resurrection of an Empire) but I find them a little hard to distinguish in game. They are not as sharp as your work. I notice that some of these units are very similar to the ones you created for The Age of Crusades. I guess you and Mathias both drew inspiration from the same Osprey books!?

If it would be possible to create some Fairline versions of these units it that would be amazing!
However there is one small 'problem' ! Its the ToT vs MGE debate again. I guess you now prefer to design for the ToT pallet and scale. If it would be possible to create some units that look good in ToT but could be converted to MGE with the minimum amount of distortion that would be fab.

        Yours grovelingly

Yeah, Gareth, I'd like to see you fill in the gaps for the Carolingian era. Charlemagne fought arabs in Spain, Lombards in Italy, Saxons, Thuringians, Bavarians, Bretons, and a whole host of various early slavic groups.

On the bright side, you've already covered the Byzantine and steppe groups.

There's no hurry. I'm working on this one intermittently while trying to learn as much as possible about the period.

On an unrelated note; does anyone know of a handy site that has lots of BATTLE maps? You'd think there'd be dozens, but turning one up hasn't been as easy as I anticipated. Got my mapeditor program working again (huzzah), and am wanting to put together a set of medieval battles . . . . but . . . try to find of map of Hattin or dorylaeum or Nicopolis . . . arg. (Curiously, there are lots of Hastings map--dozens of 'em).
