Thanks to everyone for all your support over the years, but even more, thanks for all the fun times we have enjoyed together playing Civ2.

To this old monk this is quite an honor; plus, I get a nifty new badge, too!!

It is especially nice to receive this honor while still ticking...thanks for that too.

Would anyone like to play a game??

I cannot say that I have a lot of time to play these days, but if someone were to start the "Bloody Monk Hall of Fame Inauguration Celebration Succession Game" I would certainly watch. The last one was quite a learning experience.

I don't play Civ2 anymore, but I think I could dust out the disks to join in a Monk celebration game.

I'd have to configure the game on a pre-OSX Mac and get it online, but would be honored to join in a celebratory bit of deja II with old friends.

I haven't played Civ2 in years, but would join, too.

I would love to see a game played here again. I will watch closely but can't promise to jump in very often.

Perhaps someone would like to start a new thread (and link to it here) to get the ball rolling. Based on the last game I think this should be MGE rather than classic. Definitely want _jr to be able to play this time.

I never participated in any succesion game, but of course I will put an entry in Monk's celebration game.
I can't participate more, as my Civ2 time is used in the never-ending Ancient Empires PBEM.

The good news is that I've found my Civ disk and MGE appears to be running. The bad news is that l was apparently building a scenario last time I used it. I've recovered various files from the back up - rules.txt, etc - but can anyone give a list of all the standard files to make sure I haven't missed any.

That is good news. I'm confused though. If you found the disk, why not d/l into a new folder (and play from there for this game) so the old bits won't matter?? If that won't do can you be more specific as to which files you have/or need?? It looks to me like there are a lot of them and I'm not sure how to approach this.

Come to think of it, that would have been easier. The reason I didn't do that was that I had made some cosmetic changes to the city list and the names of the English leader - I always play the English. Anyway, I seem to have MGE working OK except that barbarians are called vikings (I was working on an Anglo Saxon scenario). I'll sort that out in time for the game and in anycase, I think it is just a text message that won't affect others.
