  • Military symbol graphics?

Does anyone know where I can find some graphics of military symbols as used on US military maps (eg. Westpoint Atlas)? I seem to recall Koby using them on a WWII East Prussia scenario, but I cannot find it anywhere.

Try Battlefield Chess on the wiki. Appears to be down at the moment though. Perhaps Civfanatics?

In the Balkan Wars I have used three slots as unit HQ flags with Xs for unit size (XX=Division etc...). I hoped that these flags would help the player to make sense of the large armies on the game map by reading the corrosponding notes in the read me file.

I remember Battlefield Chess using the symbol system. I often use these symbos when planning games. I guess using them would be the most realistic way of representing unts, like a generals map table!

I got it, thank you. My idea is that if a scenario uses military symbols, it should be possible to create a static sprite for the symbols quite easily. Using the mask graphic, you could make the background color, or the color of some other aspect of the graphic, different for each civ.

I think you should have a look at this one too:

You can add civ-specific colours relatively easily using masking in Merc's utility to any civ unit. The Stock game units on Catfish's site showcase this.

Don't you have to have it in sprite format?
