  • Napoleonic Wars Europe - Creation Thread

Here is my new project I´m currently working on: A TOT scenario of the Napoleonic Wars in Europe.

It´s a remake of the Napoleonic scenario which was included in the classic Microprose scenario disk.

    Napoleon invades Spain

Have you played Bonaparte by John Ellis?

I would highly recommend this scenario. It is the benchmark by which all other Napoleonic scenarios should be judged!

If the MPS Napoleonic scen could be converted to ToT,
then it would be a nice benchmark for a new epic..

            What map are you using.

I'd personally use Werd's European map (or a variation thereof) myself, but it seems you've chosen a smaller one. Is it the vanilla Civ 2 European map, or are you using a different one?

I, too, look forward to this scenario...

Hm, I don´t know John Ellis Bonaparte very well, maybe I should have a look at this one.

I would like to make a scenario like AWI with two main civs.
In this part these are France and Great Britain.

Only the Prussians and Austrians are also interesting for playing.

The unit file is complete, I´m working on the rules text files.
When this scenario is ready, you should have a look at it and let me know what you think about it...

              @Varwnos:
The blue cities are from Curts 17th century city set. You can find them in Tecumseh´s Frederick the Great scenario.

                  Here's a link for Bonaparte:
                  Bonaparte by John Ellis

The Scenario League seems to be a bit broken right now but I think the downloads work.

Bonaparte is especially good as a PBEM game. I have not tried it as a single player game but it should be pretty good. You should find a lot of good ideas from this game!

I would recommend a larger map. Personally I won't play a game where the map is too small, they just don't excite me! I was planning to make an modified version of Bonaparte on my European map (in fact I have played around with it a bit already ) but if you wanted to use it you are quite welcome. There are also a lot of good European maps that are somewhere between the two in terms of size!

What year do you intend to start in?

Great Napoleonic Battles series by W.I.N.T.E.R is also a real classic.

For me, the map is good. It isn´t too small like the European map from Microprose. But I´m interested in your European map. Please let me know where I can find it.
I´ve downloaded John Ellis Bonaparte, I will have a look at the events and play some turns.

Here are some points I will realize in my scenario:

                      Techs:
There won´t be many tech because it´s a war scenario and the time was very short for new and innovative techs. Most techs you can research will get you better units which you will need for victory.

                      Nations:
Four civs will be interisting for playing. The main civs France and Great Britain. And the Kingdom of Prussia and Austria-Hungary.
A special challenge will be the Ottoman Empireand the Russians. But they can´t build strong and powerfull units.

                      Gameplay:
This will be a scenario with a historical background but you can play your own history. I hope that I can simulate some historical battles with the events. This won´t be a historical absolutly correct scenario. This one will be a scenario like AWI.

                        ...
Agreed. It doesn't have the depth or realism of John Ellis's excellent scenario, but it's an absolute blast to play.

It was a great PBEM scen. Anyone know where to find v4?

This looks like a promising scen, I'm looking forward to it.

                              A "Napoleonic Wars Europe" scenario.
I enjoyed your AWI scenario, I will probably enjoy this one too.
