  • Blitzkrieg 1936 V5 released!

In my constant search for perfection, here is the annual Blitzkrieg update (hopefully the last!)

    CAN YOU AVOID WW2?

Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933. Under his leadership the country developed into a ruthlessly aggressive totalitarian state. All forms of democratic government and political opposition were soon swept away. By coercion, repression and propaganda, the Nazi Party began to control German life. The Nazis pledged first to restore Germany to its 'rightful' place in Europe, and then to seek world power.

In October 1936 Italy's Mussolini made an alliance with Germany's Adolf Hitler. Ethiopian trade concessions were extended to Germany (Ethiopia had been conquered by Italy in May). They also declared common policies towards Spain, the Danubian countries, the Soviet Union, and the League of Nations. Mussolini called the new alliance the Rome-Berlin Axis

    The Blitzkrieg era has begun...

    What's changed?
A lot of work has gone into this update. There is now:
    - a brand new tech tree,
    - civ's are more balanced,
    - unit stats are radically changed, making rush building harder and there is now,
    - more emphasise on infantry,
    - new non-minable 'third world' terrain,
    - new events,
    - new gfx,
    - new units,
    - new a lot!

    Enjoy!

Played it last night for a bit as the French. Got involved in WWII early (the Nazis always like to move some armor outside Lyons). Not that bad, as I was planning on preemptively striking Hitler before he historically wiped me out in 1940 . but I did notice a few things:
    • Governments go haywire. Nearly everyone's overthrows their government and winds up with Neutral Economy (Despotism), including me (not my intention, my Republic government fell and I had no choice but to accept Despotism.)
    • Diplomacy is messed up to. The US soon went to war over the Independents (to invade Mexico) and Britain (to invade Canada). Yeah, I can soo see FDR doing that...
    • Seasons change. I know that's a characteristic of the Blitzkrieg series, but without any messages to save my game and change the files, I end up playing through the seasons with the Winter package. Which probably hampers my offensive into Germany. A short event describing what to do when the times comes would be helpful (though I know about the limited events space of MGE.)

Still, an enjoyable scenario, if not without its flaws.

Bk36 is designed for PBEM play.

imho it's impossible to let it work in SP

          Hey Curt!
I am kind of a silent reader right now right here.
I am more active at playing PBEMS at German Webring. Dario, Academia, Eivind and Rebel also are very active over there. If you are interested in playing too, just give us a visit!

            Hi Disco,

Thanks for responding, but as cifer points out, it's prefered play is for MP. But it's only optimized for MP, not designed for it entirely. You can very easily play it by SP, but the AI always does what it wants (i.e. changing governments even though it's turned off). That is why my main domain is optimizing scens to be played by intelligent humans. I can easily see why nemo quit designing scenarios...

It says in the intro pop up that you must change the season every October and March.

            Good luck!
