  • Help with event files

    I´ve noticed a (little) problem when I was making my events for AWI.

    I would like to give the French reinforcements on random turns. They should be available at Pointe-a-Pitre. The city is a coastal city.

    The problem is, that the units don´t be available in this city.

    Does anyone knows why?

    It would help a great deal if you would post the event that doesn't work. Otherwise, there is absolutely no way anyone can possibly figure out what the problem is.

    Your scen is TOT, I assume.

      The problem may be not related to the Events file.
      If you choose to start the scenario by choosing British, at the end of the first turn you can see that there is a britanic unit “fusilier” in Pointe-a-Pitre”. If this unit remains in the city that must block the arrival of the French reinforcements by the Events file.

        Another problem:
        after several turns of play, some barbarian units "royal grenadiers" appear on the Ocean.

          I think MacGalleo is right, the British Fuslier in Port-au-Prince should be the problem. I will delete it and look if the events works.
          Also I will fix the problem with the Barbarian units in the ocean.

          I still work on some few further problems which I´ve noticed during my playtest. Also I will make a better English translation for my text files.
          After I have everything done, I will replace the new files with the files uploaded on the SL Wiki.

          PS: If you noticed some more bugs etc... please let me know it. I will fix it for the new version.

            I haven't noticed any other bug. I will play again and if I notice another one, I will let you know.

            In your event, I don't think that "randomize" is necessary because there's only one location.

            PS: I like very much to play your AWI scenario...

                  I´m working on it, but I´m very busy at the moment. When I´ve more time, I will complete all files and upload them on the SL Wiki.

                        I still remember that there is a programm which checks my rules file, especially the technologies of any mistakes. Does anyone have a link to this programm?

                        The game crashed and said "Error ´-4´ in module ´3´ data:58 1
                        I know it is something wrong with the Techs but in line 58 I don´t find anything...

                          Merc's Civ2Tech utility. Note, it checks only the technologies in the rules file.



                          Instructions-

                          Just drag the rules.txt onto the unzipped program. It'll show one error at a time. After the first error is found, correct the error, re-drag the rules.txt, correct the next error, and repeat until no more errors are found.

                            It was the programm I was looking for. A missing comma in the Techs was the reason for the game crash.
                            Now everything works very fine.
