  • This bonehead can't make a title.gif

I don't know what the problem is - I copy a title.gif from somewhere else, and paste the pic I want into it, but when I try to use in in a scenario, it doesn't work.

Since the last time I did it right was a milennium ago, is there something I'm missing?

The problem is that the NEW Gif dont look properly (ruined, mismatched colours ..) or that is not loaded at all by the game ?

I found out that working using photoshop, there is a difference if i copy another another gif, bmp .. and paste it directly in a civ2 image...in this case if the pallette are not the same.. the pasted image will look horrible.. and ruined in his colours..

on the reverse.. if i copy the gif/bmp.. open a new file.. paste it.. then copy this one.. and paste it in the CIV2 gif/bmp.. in this case photoshop automatically adjust the image colours to the pallette of civ2 .. thus the pasted image will look good.

Maybe , if coping directly from a bitmap/gif with different pallette then civ2... the paste operation over a civ2 files will have bad results.
But if u "pass" through another file..one with no pallette ... and THEN copy this and go to the civ2 file..it ll look nice.

But i dunno if this is true ONLY in photoshop..

    hope it can help..

The bottom half of the file contains a squished version picture, topped by smaller and smaller squished versions repeating themselves.

Mayeb you can try , by removing the title.gif, and make it title.bmp just to see if this way it works..
Make the bmp 8 for MGE or 16 bit.. maybe TOT can load up the 16 bit bmp..

or.. try again by starting from another TITLE.GIF..

title.bmp definitely is a non starter.

Mike, your technique from 1000 years ago is definitely the way to go. My guess is you're using a different paint program from what you used to use 1000 years ago? Its probably replacing the pallette automatically for you if you using 'save as' instead of just 'save'?

I copy/paste one of the existing MPS titles, resize it to suit, and paste my image from a BMP into the MPS gif.

You have the aspect ratio lock off on whatever program you are using to resize.

If you are needing a hand, email me the image you want as your
title, and what text you need, and I will make the title for you.
