You don't need to use the palette of the original graphic. The replacement grahic can be no bigger (in bytes) than the original. AFAIK that's the only limitation.

I´m using the programm reshacker which Boco has recommended to me.
It works very fine, also there are no problems with the graphics when i change them in the programm.
Only in game it makes problems.

If you post a zip with the graphics you want inserted into the Mk.dll, I'll give it a shot. I use the Gif.Extractor program for this.

Here it is. http://apolyton.net/upload/view/1898_AWIMkdll.ZIP
You are mostly right,Civ2units. The gif image must use the same palette as the original, but it can be any original image from the dll file. I find the one that has the best mix of colors is Image#48, the picture of Bortei, the Mongol queen. So I just saved your flag images into a large gif file with the Bortei palette and replaced them into the mk.dll file.
I needed to clean up some pixels that used one of the 3 transparency colors, such as the pink and the bright blue. Just replace them with the most similar color. It's not perfect, but it is a big improvement over what you had.
I suspect that the gifs for the leader portraits can use any palette as long as it has 96 colors, but I didn't test it.Last edited by techumseh; February 24, 2007, 00:56.

Thank you very much Techumseh.
Your files are much more better than my files.
Now I understand why the original civ2 palette didn´t work. I have to use one of the palette included in the mk.dll file.
With the 96 coulors i will test it.
Unfortunately all .dll files only supports the 8bit palettes.
That´s why i used b/w colours for the pictures in the Tiles.dll

Glad to help. Your scenario is very good. It's one of the best "first scenarios" I've seen. Congratulations!

Great to hear from you Techumseh, that you like the scenario.
I´ve played some games with the British and the Americans, if there are any bugs or something else, please let me know. I will fix them.
Here is the fourth and last part of graphics for AWI. It will replace the pictures shown in the Civilopedia.
To use them, only copy into the AWI folder.
AWI Graphics #4
With the finishing of AWI i´m planning a new scenario.
I thought about to make a crusade scenario or an age of discovery.
I like scenarios where you have to build up an empire.
