I was rather surprised as well.

As I said, the protection fleet and the carriers were separated, so the carriers were pretty much SBD, submarine and battleship fodder.

My bad. Understand I've only otherwise played this scen against the AI, which isn't so nasty. I'll have to adapt to this style quickly or suffer, I guess!

i say again, Japan is the most powerfull civ. my point of view clashes with Alejandros one, who says that Germany is.

Japan has an undoubty naval superiority. patine, still you have lot of weapons to repel the enemy and win the world war
US hit you really hard!, but you can prove your true skills against Britain... ofc, you will have to fight with Nilat, and he is not an easy player, so....

If you ask me then Japan and Germany are about equal in terms of their armed forces at the beginning, but Japan has the advantage of being less claustrophobic.

Germany has 3 fronts with fighting going on, and being the apparently bigger threat, also has to expect a major US invasion.

Due to the vastness of the pacific Japan can easily defend her home islands, and the US are in less of a hurry to attack Japan because likewise, repelling a Japanese invasion is easy.

China is no threat, Russia usually remains neutral towards Japan, and Britain does not have the hardware needed nearby to attack Japan, so Japan can concentrate entirely on attacking unlike Germany, which has to be paranoid about invasions from all over the place all the time.

                The British Empire

This month has seen worst and greatest of mankind; The lowly Japanese attacking the noble American people in their sly manner and the cruel Nazis brutally killing innocent Britons on their homeland, which should be their haven. We have also seen the greatness of mankind; awe inspiring feats of courage and kindness towards fellow man, be it friend or foe.
However, even our proud people and their allies must engage themselves in acts of brutality in order to suppress the scum of the earth, as they lack an understanding of diplomacy.

                Pacific Front

The Commonwealth would like to congratulate and thank the U.S Navy for its great victory against the Japanese navy. Our boys have been greatly encouraged by this and they want to continue this new naval tradition of inflicting a lot of damage in a counter-attack. The HMW Prince of Wales accompanied by HMS Repulse attacked the 3rd Japanese Battleship division, sinking the Battleship Kongō! This ship was one of the backbones of the Indo-Chinese invasion force.

Some brave partisans from the Winnipeg Rifles regiment in Hong Kong have bravely pillaged Japanese infastructure to help our Chinese friends. Always remember that these brave Canadians gave their lives for your people.

                Japanese Casualties
                -1 Battleship
                -4 Destroyers

                British Casualties

                NONE

                European Front

The Italians also suffered a defeat equivalent to the Japanese one. The Battleship Littorio was sunk from the coast of Catalonia, Spain. It's battlegroup was nearly destroyed too, leaving only submarines undamaged.

                Italian Casualties

                -1 Battleship
                -1 Cruiser
                -2 Destroyers
                -1 Submarine (I think)

                British Casualties

                NONE

The Wolfpack hunt in the Atlantic Ocean is now in full speed. With the help of American spotting and our own RAF, several wolfpacks were sunk without casualties.

                -4 submarines sunk

We wish good luck to the Soviet Union and the United States in their endeavors against the evil Axis.

The Glorious Soviet Union is now fully embarked upon throwing out the German invader! The Great Patriotic War shall be won!

Heroic elements of the Red Army have destroyed:
                    1 German PzIV
                    5 Wehrmacht Divisions
                    1 Fallschirmjager

We will also maintain the cease fire with Japan.

The Japanese High Command is dismayed at the Imperial Army's lack of progress in China. Airpower will soon be moved to this front to give more leverage.
                      Japanese forces lost:
                      -10 SNLF
                      -1 Type 97 Chi-Ha
                      -1 A6M2 Zero

                      Chinese forces lost:
-Approximately 2 or 3 Chinese Infantry

Aerial bombardment of Singapore resulted in damage to the garrison there.
                      British forces lost:
                      -1 Spitfire MkII
                      -1 British Infantry

                      No Japanese losses

Naval Battle of the Yellow Sea:
                      British losses:
                      -2 Cruisers
                      -1 Battleship

                      Japanese losses:
                      -3 Destroyers
                      -2 Cruisers
                      -1 Battleship
                      -1 Submarine

Phibun Songgram's regime in Thailand is persuaded to join the Japanese cause, and Bangkok is heavily reinforced to aid this fragile state.

Japan still honors the cease-fire with the USSR.

The loss of the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse saddens all Britons, but their sacrifice has caused much damage to the Japanese Navy. In total:

                        -2 Battleships
                        -7 Destroyers
                        -2 Cruisers
                        -1 Submarine

                        Not bad!

                              The war rages on.

On the Chinese front, the nationalists have further fortified their position and are eagerly awaiting the Jap attack.

In the Pacific, Wake has been emptied and a SNLF platoon destroyed in the process.

In the Atlantic, 3 submarines were sunk.

We have also spotted a nazi submarine at 84, 36 which we were unable to sink, perhaps our British friends could launch a Wellington from Plymouth to take care of that pest.
