  • Ditherer

I recently ported Koby's Star War's Insurrection to ToT, and came across a problem with terrain dithering, or lack thereof. In the MGE version, Koby has removed the terrain boundary dither graphic on terrain1 to stop ugly mixing and merging of adjacent planet graphics, but ToT seems to take exception to its removal. The pic on the right is a screeny with the dither tile present, and the one on the left is with dither removed. WTF?

Even simply removing a few of the pixels in the dither tile seems to produce the same result: terrain tiles become hopelessly jumbled. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

If you want no dithering in ToT, use the attached tile.

            Thanks mate

So I guess I just needed a magenta / second transparent colour pixel in the top left corner?

Oh, I think we're all in the same boat, Brian.

              Luddite indeed.

                You've got a point there; a 1997 game versus a 1999 game

                  Luddite Competition!

Much to my relief, I came across my 5.25" master disk for CP/M WordStar the other day.

Not really. Once I arrived at the desired result, I stopped mucking about.

That works too. The colour defined by the top left pixel possesses properties other than simple transparency. I haven't investigated how it works exactly. Apart from black (used to determine which pixels are exchanged between adjacent tiles), any other colours used will be displayed normally.

I beg to differ. Test of Time is STILL the most advanced scenario designing Civ platform around. Try Dalek or Market-Garden in Civ4.
