Hello and welcome, Nilat! Check out the Players needed thread. Also, I think there's some games in need of players even that havn't announced it there.

Btw, what's up with the sami flag?

I know the story Dario, don't worry Nearly all the times when I'm gone, I still check how you guys are doing! While I have been gone, I have been thinking of a thing which would change PBEMing.. Its just a bit too large scale It could be shrunk, but here is the idea:

Apart from playing the usual PBEMs etc, we make a kind of tournament (wow, how original). But instead of one person playing for himself we have set teams.

The idea is to play war scenarios with one team playing one side and the other team the other! (eg Central Powers and Ottoman Empire vs Entente and Russia)

Initially neutral nations could be left in AI control or then controlled by players who did not want to participate in the tournament as a team.

What is the point you ask? It should be fun and different. Also, imagine the situation when you are discussing with your teammates about tactics in depth. I believe this would improve players in civ2 and let people know eachother a bit more.

          Just a usual Nilat idea

If you're willing to organize this it surely could be interesting.

If there's anything I can do to help you off, let me know.

                ANNOUNCEMENT:

Elucidus is looking for a civ2 moderator(s) in Strafegamer.com! I have applied myself to be in this position (I was a **** admin, but good moderator in my opinion). If anybody else wants to apply, please do so! I will withdraw my application if I am not wanted, which I do understand fully!

About the team thing, or clan in fps terms, we would organise the teams and play some scenarios which could be good. I will start finalising this idea and see if it can be applied.

Some scens that can be used: Eivind's BK42,41, 2194 v2, WW1: Walk in hell, WW1 (steph's) and other war scens that have been proven to work which have two main parties fighting eachother. Napoleonic wars wouldnt be good, im afraid Too much diplomacy.

They asked me if I wanted that job a couple of weeks ago, but I declined. Because I want us to stay here now. For resons already mentioned. You weren't here when the move happened, but this is our new home now, where civ2 still flourishes. We've been through thw whole moving process alreay. In fact, that's what this very thread is about. Please don't create another schism. Just play on and forget about it.

And regarding the team thing, they are in fact starting a game of ww1 right now.

You should hook up with them and try to pitch the idea. Instead of induvidual players they could have several for the entente and the central powers. As already mentioned in that thread, the game could in worst case be played by only two players, meaning they could make two camps instead. I could make sure you recieve the proper backing, if you are in need of a sub forum or something.

Also, this place has a long history of diplo games:

                    Whatever you say, Eivind..

About the WW1 PBEM, I am in that at the moment and I don't want to implement this new idea quite yet. It has to be thought through first. And I dont want random PBEMs to have this, it should be a tournament so that the whole thing could have a point. Teaming is normal, but we need permanent teams with their own names etc.

EDIT: About the diplo games, I've been in one in poly. Very fun one which actually worked for quite some time. It was the Israel one. I still remember my name was Wilhelm Katz, the northern General of the Israeli army and the leader of the Imperial Israel party
