  • "invicible untill attack" advanced unit flag

    Can this be nullified somehow?

The "unit can spot subs" flag doesn't work against it. Some tech maybe?

None that I have learned (please someone show me that I'm wrong). Well I suspose you could use cheat mode and type "Y". The player can painstakingly right click squares adjacent to see these invisible units in the information pane. IIRC, units ordered to move into a square containing such a unit initially refuse the order. When asked a second time, they will attack. In practice, the player (well, okay, me) often thinks he mistyped the first time and charges again, leading to careless mistakes.

I used this flag a lot initially in EA, but backed off because of the right-click trick. It's inevitable that players are going to use right-clicking. Since that is true, invisible units aren't truly invisible, but instead present a cumbersome interface that could tick off players. If you use this, pay attention to player feedback.

That said, I am still using this flag for U-Boats, though, instead of the sub flag. This way subs can bombard cities.

Ahh bollocks, i just had this idea of zulus advancing under concealment and could only be spotted by British officer units with the "can spot subs" flag.

I'd better discard the idea alltogether then.

You didn't really expect to qualify from the group, did you?

Heh, even Australia has made it into the second round (not that I generally care about soccer).

Palaiologos, if it's important, you could use a ReceivedTechnology to prompt the user to run a batch file that changes the invisible-until-attack flag by loading a new Rules.txt. Not quite what you wanted, but...

Sigh, we all have our delusions. With officemates from Ghana and Australia Southern Croatia , I've received some well-deserved grief. Case, IIRC after the last Ashes, perhaps you should change sports.

            Ashes??
            How you play that one?
Anything like 'Getting your Ashes Hauled'??
Now, that's a great international sport despite the odd sticky wick[et].

Australia got robbed in the second round. Hell of a good game. Lynch the ref!

It was a clear penalty dude.

And it wasn't as if the ausies created a worth mentioning chance to score in the entire game.

Its team England's gameplay which is appaling. Have grown sick of it.

                  You got to be joking.

I am dead serious. At most it was a 50-50%.

                    Actually I was serious too!

I can understand the referee giving it, because it's much harder to see things "live" than in slow motion!

                    But:
                    - the italian player went to the already-laying aussie, it's not as if the defender went at him
                    - do you really think that had the reverse happened the referee would have dared giving a penalty against Italy?

Nothing against Italy, but the "big teams" are nearly always (over) protected...

                    Sorry about the OT, BTW!
